Well i've got to get some front tires, and would like to get the same OD as a 22" wheel/tire so I can start tubbing out my firewall. What size 22" tires are most duallys running? I may have to stick with a 19 so i don't go past my hood, and past my body line in the rear.... argh! I'm running 215/70/16 in the front, with a 215/85/16 in the rear.

Tire sizes: Explained.

The first number is the width, in millimeters.
The second number is the percentage of the width that the sidewall is tall.
Third number is obviously the rim size.

So if you wanna figure out how tall a tire is, take the first number, and multiply it by the second number, then double it, then divide by 25.4 then add the rim size, and that will tell you the height of the tire.

225/75/16 = 225*.75=168.75*2=337.5/25.4=13.2+16=29.2" tall

Any number as a percent **% = .**
You multiply that number by 2 because you have two sidewalls worth of tire in the height.
You divide by 25.4 because there are 25.4 mm in one inch.
You add 16 because that tells you what two sidewalls plus the rim height are that gives you the complete height of the tire. If the tire is a 22, add 22. If it is a 17 add 17, etc etc etc...

So what you need to do is find the size of the 22" tire you want to run, then find out how tall it is. Then find a 16" tire that is the same height and you are all set.

265/35/22 = 29.3" tall

I can't tell ya what size tires these guys run, but maybe this info will help you out one way or another.

yea, I used to figure all that out, its easier to get a online calculator, main thing I need is just the size people use.... 22" wheels may be 2 tall for my lowered truck... hell my stock 16s up front I can drive down the freeway and watch them spin from not having a hood. haha

just how low is your truck if you are worried about the tires hitting the hood on a 22????
