cant remember the exact number on my truck but it was 8 or 8 1/2 inches shorter....but heres the deal my truck is a 85 model...my rear end come out of a 97-98(cant remember exactly) model...completely differant bodystyle...so your gonna have to measure your rear hub to hub and figure out how much shorter your rear needs to be to get the tires under the fenders...then go to the junkyard and find a SRW rear and make sure its gonna be short enough to work for you....but 16 inch dually wheels wont clear SRW brakes iirc

I need roughly 3 or more inches shorter on each side to tuck, and I'm gonna run 24s so I don't think drum clearance is an issue. My 2000 is the same body style as the 97-98 rear you picked up so it sounds like I'm going to look into that; is it an 8 lug 3/4 ton? Did the yolk bolt on to the drive shaft without moving the position of the rear?

yea just a 8 lug 3/4 ton... and yea my universal joint bolted up....if you look into a 01 new rear it will have disc brakes....my junk yard didnt have one or i woulda went with it

Its been awhile guys , sorry, had to put the project on hold, got a baby coming in a few weeks and was accomidating the wife. got the weld on 4 link for my rear suspension issues but not sure what to do under the hood as far as with inner fender wells and the components on the wells. im using 3/4 ton hubs with extended control arms. do i have to cut my firwall to fit the 24s? thanks
