whell the first thing you could do is try the carierbearings sparky bought extra but dont fit , if you get one of those to fit you can pay him for that one and save him some money , if not you at least know wish ones not to buy

bagged,
take your drive shaft to a professional. don't go through what i went through.. save yourself the grief...

the carrier that fit was the 1.37mm .....the smallest out of the 3 they say that fit...

if anybody needs these carrier bearings i bought (and don't need). let me know.. i will hook you up....

I'll measure mine. You might have the one I need. My truck was originally a big block "camper special" so it might have used one of the bigger ones that you have.

Hey Sparky I'm about to yank the cab off of my frame in the next couple of days. All I have to lift it with is an engine hoist. I've been racking my brain on the best way to lift it with my engine hoist. Some one over on my thread reminded me that you did the same thing.
What was the best way you figured out to lift the cab off with your hoist?? I was thinking about making a jig to bolt into my seat mounting bolts and/or seat belt holes and than lifting it from there. Let me know how you did yours. Thanks homie.

i guess when you do a double cab you need a pretty stout hoist and prolly need to make the front legs longer too and move the casters forward to prevent it toppling over
maibe you better use two hoists one through the frontdooropening and one through the backdooropening

i didnt use my engine hoist to get my cab off. but im sure it can be done.

i took the rear end out from under the truck.
then i jacked the whole truck up in the air as far as i could.
i took all the body mount bolts out , and i put 2 really tall jack stands under the back of the cab. you also need 2 jack stands under the front of the cab. ( i used tires , wood and batteries... ) jackstands work better...lol
i used the jack to lower the frame out from under the cab and set it on the ground.. then i pretty much dragged the frame out from under the cab. manually, with a wooden 4x4.....

manual labor baby!

this is a pic of the last time i had to slide the frame back under the cab.

i jacked the frame up to meet the body mounts.
tighten all the body mounts up , pull the jack stands and set the truck back down .... done

i bought everything that the 59 fairlane was missing on the front end..... front bumper ,bumper mounting brackets, grille, grille mounting brace, chrome grille trim, chrome headlight trim..... i still need to buy a fender and a hood. but at least i know who to call to get the parts i need...

im going to get the fairlane from my dads house as soon as i can move my truck out of the driveway under its own power..... im going to hide the car in the garage so codes don't get called on me.....

im thinking about doing it like this car...

That's going to be a fun project. As soon as I get done with my dually I have plans on restoring an old car of some kind to pull around with the tow pig. Thanks for the info on how you did your cab man. How is the truck coming along?? What's left to do on it?? Your not to far from me and we've had some amazing weather already. It's making me want to get out and get some work done.
