Just be really careful when you start shopping for the chrome lug nuts. If you stick with the clamping ring setup you need lug nuts with a 90 degree conical seat, these are hard to find in chrome. Almost all conical seat chrome lugs are 60 degree which is for single wheel apps that do not use a clamping ring.

You could ditch the clamping rings and switch to flange nuts...the ones that are two pieces pressed together, in other words, they have the big washer on them that spins. Dunno about in the size that fits a square but when I found them for the monster 5/8 studs on my 3500HD, the bastards are $11.69 each. I'd have over $350 in lug nuts and that seems more than just a little bit recockulous to me.

The lugnuts that come with the newer style wheels will not work on your truck anyways(wrong thread pitch).

If your truck had the lug lock plates on it then you will need to use it on the newer wheels but it still will not solve your problem of the hubbore being the wrong size.

i think what i will do is get the org. wheels powder coated black along with the ring that go on after the wheel (cant remember the name) then either use the org. lug nuts and put on the chrome lug nut covers or trying and get new chrome lug nuts but i dont really what to spend 350 in lug nuts then just sell the rims that i got off that guy

lockone.... can you get shrome lug nut for my truck that don't cost a ton of money?

Definitely go with the original wheels since they fit your hubs. What Trevor is telling you about the new wheels is dead-on, the center hole is too big and that's what centers the wheel on this setup, not the lugs. In technical terms it is called "hub piloted' instead of "stud piloted."

Back to the lugs...if you use the clamp rings you need conical seat lugs, with a 90 degree seat. They might be easier to find than the 5/8" I need for my 3500HD. Or like I said earlier, convert to the flange style nuts. They look like what you got with the new wheels, but you need them in standard thread instead of the 14mm those new ones are.

Anything you find is bound to be cheaper than what I found in 5/8" but still be prepared for the sticker shock.

Sorry for repeating this but you have to watch out with the chrome conical seat lug nuts because most of them are 60 degree and that is not correct for running with the clamp rings. Gotta be 90. 60's are for single wheel setups that do not use the clamp ring.

Here's some for just under $4 each;

Note the 90 degree pitch in the conical seat. I guess squarebody dually studs are 9/16"? I remember the half ton squarebody stuff was 1/2" ...

yeah i think your right about the 9/16 and i search on ebay and all that was on there was the 60deg.....

will i be fine running those wheels untill i get my others back from the power coat.. this isnt my daily driver but i do run to the parts store a couple of time a week in it

and $123.84 for 32 lug nuts i guess isnt that bad but i think for right now i might just go with the chome lug nut cover untill i get some more funding for the truck unless i can find them cheaper somewhere else which i bet is unlikely im sure there are all around the same price

im going to call the powder coating place tomorrow see what the price is, the place i work at take things there all the time so maybe i can get this done cheap

The info that Richard has given you above is about the cheapest lug nuts of that style I have seen. Seems to be the only place that has them also.

Only thing you gotta worry about is if you get them in and they look like they were cast in a mold made out of melted jolly ranchers dug out of the dumpster, ya know what I mean? It might be true that all chrome lugs are made overseas but I've noticed a range of quality in them, for sure.

Someone posted a link to me on another forum for the lugs I was looking for - the 5/8-18 90 degree - but it was a link directly to a Chinese supplier that only accepts containerload orders. Note part #LM005, 90 degree conical seat lug, and the top of the page says it's available in all sizes (including the 5/8-18 that I need.)

Now if the Chinese are the ONLY game in town for stuff like this, sometimes I gotta make a judgement call and ask myself if it's something I really want to trust to them. Chinese lug nuts on my heavy-ass HD? Nah. I'll wait, maybe I'll hit the freaking lotto and I'll get the flange version that Gorilla has on Summit's site. Sure, they're probably made in china too but I'm willing to bet they've been after them about the QC a bit better than the no-name stuff. All the Gorilla brand lugs I've bought in the past were good...but I'm used to paying more like $1/ea for the 14mm spline drive lugs. Not eleven freakin' dollars plus...
