The dash is now in permanently! I got it sanded down and the bare sheet metal primed. Then I got out the Bondo and slung some of that goo. I like body filler, just don't like to sand it, but them are the breaks!

I also got the first color on the glove box laid down. I will do the second color tomorrow once it has time to dry over night. It is going to be subtle but very cool once it is all done. I think you guys will like it once it is all done.

I hope to get lots of work done tomorrow. Stay tuned...

Thanks.
I like your post and all the hard work that you have done. I think that I may use the C notch and move the springs to the bottom on mine. Also thanks for the info about the narrow rear end from a 3/4 ton. I may have to change mine. I will need to take some measurements to see. // my truck is bone stock. I am not sure where to start? Its at the transmission shop now. It was stuck in limp home mode when I got it. The man I got it from just gave up. It's not getting a electric signal to tell it to shift. It a 4L80E trans

Thanks man! This is a progressive disease. First you want it low, then you see a cool truck on the ground, then you want yours just like his, and it is down hill from there... Glad to know there is no cure!!!

To help you get started down this very slippery slope, here is what I do before I start any major project. I make a list of everything I want the truck/car to look like in the end, ie; slammed dually on 22.5" Alcoa's (that is the OCD side of my brain working!). I actually make out a spread sheet nowadays (In the past I would use a notebook pad and write everything down), and then I break down each major task into workable groups. This becomes my project list/work sheet, and it helps me keep on task. So when you don't know where to start just go back to your worksheet, and it will help you keep your project going. I break down my lists into 5 major categories; powertrain, rear end, front end, interior, and suspension.

I am sure you already do everything above (and probably better than I do!), but I just wanted you to know how I start out a project and keep myself on task.

One other bit of advice. You have to start a build thread on this forum. Trust me when I say that it and the guys on this forum will motivate you to keep going and finish your project. Start a thread and send me the link.

I was a bodyman ( years ago ) so I can do most of the work myself.
I also work for a Co. called Panoz Automotive.
I worked on the Roadster
They are Alu. bodys sports cars.
I welded the Alu. bodys together, fitted & made some small of the panels.
They used fiberglass on the inside of the hood, trunk & insides of the doors.
So metal fab will not be a problem.
My rear fender need some work. ( They have some cracks )
So I was thinking that I may cut & widen them ( about 3 " )
I now work for the Insurance Co. ( and have for the last 10 years )
I work at a Salvage yard looking at total loss cars & trucks all day.
Sometimes its like being a kid in a candy store see all the things that could be.
It looks like you are doing very good work on your truck.
I like the dash that you are building & the frame work, goods great !
I have some many ideas. I just have to get it mechanical sound 1 st.
The issue w/ the Trans and it's elec. issue where 1 of the items that I had to sub. out.
The truck needs tire so I thought why not get the 10 lug 22"

That rocks! My brother races a Panoz school car! I know that company really well. We use to supply them lights and electronics when I was with Hella electronics. We used to live in Newnan, GA and I use to go see that plant every so often. Bunch of great guys and gals that put those cars together.

Go for the Alcoa's. They look killer!

I live about 15 mls. north in Flowery Branch, GA. Did I see that you live in TX ?
I checked out the wheels on Tennessee wheel & tire. ( I saw them on 1 of your post. )
Very nice, but very high. Ever if they just rework your wheels. I can probley find some used truck 22.5" // Do you know what the rate is to cut them down to 22" ?

Wtf? When did you live in Newnan? I was born and raised in Newnan, and still live here! Lol

Give Trevor @ TN Wheel a call and he can work you up a quote if you can find some wheels. For you it will not be that bad because you can drive them up to him. Most of my cost was in the freight.

We actually lived in Sharpsburg, but I tell folks Newnan because unless you are form there you would never know where Sharpsburg is... We moved from there in 2008, but the wife and I are from the SW, NM and TX. So we are back home now. We still have a ton of friends there however, we loved GA!

Got to playing around with then new seats today. I just pulled them out of the boxes and set them inside the truck. They are going to need frames fab'd up for them, but I just wanted to see them inside the truck. They are super comfortable, beats the heck out of the bench seat any day!

I started tonight to look at the center console, but it got late and that is a task for another day...
