yep thats the deck we were planining to use its off a extra cab, but after seeing your trucks with the short beds im thinking it mite look to short with our deck.

Ahh yes, I too like the idea of the double cab tray on the single cab frame, I have seen it done to a Toyota, the guy just did what they recommend here, cut the frame at the back of the cab and shorten the bit left as much as needed, just brace it first and cut on the long side, trial fit then trim more if needed.
It's better to make it too long first just in case some issues arise, and it's much easier to cut shorter than to make long again.

yer thanks guys, i understand the concept, what im trying to say is we (in new zealand) only get long wheel base single cab utes, the blue deck in my pic is off a extra cab, in the pics iv seen of your trucks the decks seem to be abit longer than the blue deck i have but shorter than the deck that came off our truck, im i just imagining things or not, could someone measure the wheel base so i can compare, thanks

Err I'm in nz too.
We have 3 models of the b series ute, the single cab, cab plus and the double cab, the Americans only get the single and cab plus, wheelbase is the same as here, as all the models come from Japan anyway (unless you are referring to the ford couriers?).
Possibly you are getting some image distortion from the image resizing that is done to fit the pictures on the website.

BTW, I got the trays mixed up in the Toyota I mentioned before, it was a double cab tray and a single cab.
Makes it a real short ute indeed.
If you really want to upset the Americans and stand out in the minitruck croud you could always go the opposite and do the double cab with a single cab tray, seen that done to a Toyota too, was massively long

thanks man, from the photos on here it looks like there decks are inbetween a single cab and a extra cab, sweet as we'll just make it as short as we think looks good. were in nz are you?

there is 3 different size (bed, trey, tub, box, deck) lengths in the us. single cab short, single cab long, and cab plus, the single cab short and cab plus are close to the same length but wheel wells are off by a few inches. i think if you left the deck you have on there, if what your saying is correct, youd have a unique one of a kind truck, over there anyways, as there is a guy here the has a single cab short with a bobbed tail

from the looks of the picture. it apears you have an cab plus bed unless thats off a dual cab

thank you, so im no imagining things, i did abit of resurch on the net and found the wheel base measurments and your short decks come upto about half the gap seen my pic, it is so hard to find a deck with pumped guards around here so we have to graft the sides of a marve (raider) onto our deck to match the front 4WD guards.

West Auckland, out Massey way.
I have to say, I like the roof chop, nice to see some old school stuff being done again.
I'm currently waiting on my 16" modgies to come in, going from 18" alloys just to be a little different myself.
You sure you really want to go the Lexus v8 route though?
It's pretty common now, you should try something new like a Nissan (or Mazda) v6 running efi carbs or something.
There's a pretty cool guy on this forum I've met a few times with a RB20 in his ute, pretty cool, he has changed to a later model front end to make it fit easier though

was thinking more towards the nissan v8 running a carb and a low key bug catcher out the bonnet, we had 18" pajero rims but we wana change them, wot your 18s look like? we have to go 18s to clear the drop spindles, i just cant wait to drive it, it so low that when you put the sunvisor down it hits the steering wheel hahahahaha.
ps. im in Palmerston North
