Hello everyone my name is Andrew I'm 16 years old and I currently live in Minnesota and I recently joined the Scene because my older brother fdugn545 wanted me to join to look at his build and then he told me to create this. I currently don't have a any car of any sort but that's partially why I'm created this forum... I know I want a small truck and I'm debating between buying a 1994-2001 ranger/b3000-best4000 or a 1994-2001 Chevy s10 when I get the money. My plans on both of them would be to covert to a V8 the ranger/b-series I would go with a FI 5.0L and with the s10 i would go with the 350 either carbed or FI so what I'm asking is for all of yalls opinions on what I should do I know most will say mazda all the way but I'd Im asking you guys to refrain from that and another opinion id like to hear from everyone is what is the cheapest all together truck included cause as I said before I'm not making alot because I'm 16 and my job is seasonal and its in the summer... I'd like to thank everyone in advance.

Thanks for the your opinions but I'm not into the older body styles... sorry to disappoint any 1986-93 lovers out there and Fred, stop trying to persuade me to get a 86-93

They have a point if your on a budget... Parts are super cheap and it's easy to work on. My 96 s10 ran my wallet into the ground and was a pain to work on... Nice truck though of you get a good one. My suggestion would be, get am older body style (doesn't have to be a Mazda... Maybe a first gen s10? There pretty bad ass) but I would stay away from all of the electronics... Expensive and almost impossible to work on.

If you don't want a Mazda I think the first gen s10 would be a good way to go.

Thanks for your opinion and i do agree that it probably would be cheaper to work on, and I like older S10's but I live in Minnesota and I probably could find a older S10 for pretty cheap but it would be all rusted through. When you said stay away from the electronics I totally agree with you but I don't think I explained that with the build that I would be running a Carbed engine so the wiring wouldn't be so bad I would think and not as expensive. And that would go for both the Ranger/B-Series or the S10 which ever one I get.

Gotcha, yeah a carbed 350 in the newer s10 would be better... So much headache with mine. To bad you can't get one from out here, there's a bunch of first gen s10s here that probably don't have an ounce of rust on them. Heck my 92 b2200 had perfect paint under the nasty carpet lol no rust anywhere
