I have a mazda B2200 that has been converted into an 1/2 mile asphalt oval race truck and was looking to get more power out of it. Already have a pacesetter header, got a 38/38 weber outlaw coming, a new cam with specs of .414 lift, duration is 221 by 221 @050. Plan on freshing up the motor with a set of .040 pistons this spring and was wondering if there are any other performance upgrades that I could do.(ie: bigger valves, distributor tricks, etc. etc.)

Thanks
Jay

your going to have to play with your timing just bring a gun to the track mine now runs best at tdc you can do a three or five angle valve grind and lets not forget porting and polishing the head im sure you have an electric fan if not thats the next thing also a electric fuel pump other then that or a turbo or nitrous your pretty much stuck and im going to play around with intake manifold plans when i get back to jersey. cause i heard about a guy that flow tested the thing and said that its virtually impossible to pull more then 140 hps out of that manifold cause of the wierd angles and blah blah blah. anyways good luck if you figure anything out let us know

i'm in the process of getting my motor built at huntsville engine & performace.... i went 1mm over w/ the wiesco pistons w/ 7 cc dish which
should give me a 10.5:1 comp. ratio, got a cam from fast freddy's 260 duration w/ .420 valve lift. weber 38, pacesetter armorcoat header & hi-flow
cat. going to run 1mm bigger ferrera valves for the 12v 626 motor on the intake & exhaust. still working on finding the valves spring to work. mild porting & polishing of the head, and intake. accel +300 ignition & 8mm plug wires, dual 10" electric fan w/ thermostat, 2-row rad from an automatic b2200, hi flow oil pump, and some extra work on the valve train to lighten it. only performance dizzy i can find is from rpmz perfomance, nothing available from mallory or any other well known mfg. will have the whole motor cryo treated for durability and strength, aeromotive fuel pump, filters & regulator, jaz fuel cell, optima battery, eventually will do a 5th gear swap from an rx-7, and a 4wd yota rear w/ disc brakes.

all this ought to give me naturally aspirated engine w/ @ 190 hp to the flywheel, more top speed w/ the 5th gear swap and better stopping power & traction w/ the rear swap.

If you going to do all that for 190hp you might want to try paeco.com. They have pakages from 140-230hp in the $4k-8K range. Thanks for the help. I'd been looking for a performance distributor and the best thing I had found was to have custom weights made or use parts from a probe distributor.

i'll have about $4-$4500 in my motor and 190-200 hp, which falls inbetween there stage 3-4 kits which run another 2 grand from what i'll
be spending. very interesting link, i live an hour and a half from b'ham and hadn't heard of them. i did better than a year of reasearch before starting to have my motor built and didn't run across that, if i would have, i might had just gone to them for one of there disassembled kits, and had it cryo treated then put it in the truck. i forgot i also have a fidanza 9.5 lb flywheel and centerforce dual friction clutch. all of the work they are doing on the motors at paeco.com will pretty much be done on mine balancing / blueprinting, shot peening, knife edgine etc, etc....

you say your truck is a 1/2 mile asphalt oval race truck, where are you racing at? do you have pics

Yeah it's a fun money pit. here's a pic and the link is to the track. I run the #35 truck. ?event=0DN4000G02&b=0&t=-1&start=0&password=

THAT'S KOOL! I WANT MY TRUCK FAST, AND TO HANDLE LIKE A
SPORTS CAR, BUT I DON'T WANT TO SWAP ANY PAINT, HAHA!
HOPEFULLY WHEN I'M DONE IT WILL MATCH MY BIKE..... '04 CBR600RR.

you are not going to see 190 at the crank. cam, pistons, header, even the port an polish.... lots of guys have done these same mods and at dyno time they get 115-120 at the wheels, which is 135-140 at the flywheel. And thats not too bad, almost double the stock hp.

but getting 50 MORE hp than everyone elses best efforts, not a single chance. The cast crank will snap in half before you see 150.

But I hope I am wrong, I have been before!
