I think of customized and modified in a different light to each other. When I think of customizing, I get the idea of doing the work myself or with friends. Sometimes the work involved includes modifying something though. But when I think of having something modified, I usually get the idea of paying to have it done. For instance if you take your truck to a shop to get lowered, its modified. If you lower it yourself its customized. More of less a play on words but each strikes up a different image in my mind.

There are plenty of trends with customizing and modifying that will hopefully progress. I have seen so many caddy lights in all kinds of different trucks that its just a plain mod to me now. Its like seeing a lowered (aired) truck - I respect it and still love it, but I don't get that 'WOW!" feeling anymore. Almost like thats how it SHOULD be in the first place...

blare my man you couldnt have said it better.

it takes a lot of work and time to get suicide doors to align properly i seen my friends dad do a set and wow lots of fabrication.

thaundefined, just because you see alot of suicide doors or some caddys doesnt mean it didnt take alot of hard work and fab to do them.

When i did my c notches it took a good 3 hours of planning everything out and another 6 hours of fab.

oh and not to be a post whore,

but i definatly agree with s10blazed doing the work urself and going to a car show and being proud of what you built is a great feeling knowing you put all that time in work into ur truck, not taking it to ur local shop and having them put ur bags on and you having know clue to what does what

the whole taking it to a shop to get done is an odd subject to me, i got a lot of my welding done at shops for two reasons, i dont have a place to do it and i dont know how to do it, that doesnt mean its not custom in a sense, since i am the one who came up with the idea on how i wanted it done, i could see if you took your truck to a shop, dropped it off and gave them 2 grand and said do what you want, thats a little different, i feel if your there telling them what you want and actively participating in whatever way you can, its still custom, but i too enjoy doing things myuself and with friends as much as possible

this is how it is to me about shops:
Some people do there own work, some people dont know how or just dont bother.
The people that take it to shops keep shops in buisneess. Without paying customers there wouldnt be a market to make money.
