License plate laws

Question for the crew. Looking at getting a lexan rear window with the built-in license plate for the 1987 project truck. Any legal issues that I should know about? Dought I would get a helpful answer from the local Iowa troopers

Yeah I wouldn't see any problems as long as it is visible,your reg stickers are readable and is illuminated at night.

Yes, Iowa. Would hope Illinois is the same.

yeah, as long as its in plain view, & is lit up at night it should be all good...

I haven't had a problem with the law for having it. But nobody quite knows if it has to be at the rear most of the vehicle or just visible from the rear. It does leak a tad bit when I wash it, but nothing clear silicone can't fix.

if you look at some tow trucks and stuff,they have their licence plate mounted on the light bar at the back of the cab,or on the corner of the roof. As long as it's facing the back and readable,should be good.
