The 2.0 tows jet skiis just fine!

My dad's 89 2.2 towed our enclosed lawnmower trailer for years (the opened trailer in the background in the last pic). I'd say it totalled around 1000-1500 pounds with the Exmark 60inch deck mower inside and the rest of the lawn stuff.

The Mazdas pull pretty good because they're geared really low. Honestly, the 2.2 pulled better than my 94 B3000 with the 3.0 Ford, just because of the gearing. The Mazda has no problem pulling the jetskiis or our lawnmower trailer at 75mph in 5th gear. The B3000 wouldn't even touch 70mph on 5th gear because it was geared too high for towing, but would pull just fine in 4th. Just pointing that out.

B2000 with B2600 rear suspension. Dunno if that helps, but I thought it was cool.

Sounds cool i was looking at a 15" seadoo jet boat and was wondering. the boat is 1500lb and with the trailer and gas its 2200lb. I'll prolly get a weber 38 because of the towing but thanks I thought it seemed like a strong little beast.

Mazda rated them both at 1400lbs max payload and 1000lbs towing.

I guess bed limit is GVWR - vehicle weight if so our trucks can hold 1400-1500lb this is how it is on cars for passenger/cargo capacity. I was working on a 99 dakota today that had a GVWR of only 300lb more than our trucks but I'm pretty sure its a fair bit heavier truck, therfore a lower bed capacity?

Mullet, if they can hold 1400lb in the box why would the trailer weight be lower as it's not stressing the trucks suspension/axle? (not trying to flame I just don't know much about towing)

1000 pounds is the limit the bumper is rated for ,not the box.Anything over 1000 pounds may cause u to shear off the bumper bolts. Not a good feeling to have ur trailer pass ur truck going down a steep hill.Dont even ask.Lol.BJ

Ok I see what u mean. I was planning on getting a 3500lb hitch anyways i don't think I'd ever be real comfortable towing with the bumper (especialy since I don't have one, it's better without it, unless you ask my fiance).

btw I had a cop tell me I should get a bumper cause he wasn't going to give me a ticket but someone else having a bad day might. I asked him to look up what the law says about it (in a completely polite way) and it turns out in ontario only commercial vehicles need bumpers for more than just a saftey. I had one durring saftey so I can't coment on that but when I got home I unbolted it and folded it in half with my bare hands (it was that rusty)

If u want a bumper I have a chrome Mazda bumper that I will give u if ur close enough to come get it. It has a couple of dings in it but is not rusted out and has the mounting arms with it. Came off my 92 2200 but will fit most of the trucks.BJ
