I couldn't really afford that much for a vehicle, and I didn't want to get a car. So a cheap truck it was. Mazda's came to mind

Been into cars as long as I can remember. I used to be into the tuner scene, and it just got retarded...well..mostly the people did.

My step dad used to have a '92 B2200 that he bought new,and I always loved that truck. In '98 he gave it to my grandpa and since I got my licence I've always begged him to sell it to me and he never would.

When I was working at JCI,I worked with a few guys that were like hardcore into trucks, street rods and stuff, and I used to hang out with them. All 3 of them drive very done up GMC Sierras. One of them used to drive a Mazda years ago that he painted flat black, put some smootie hubcaps on it,painted the dash with speckle paint and put a diamond plate toolbox in the bed,lol

While I worked there,I was driving a pretty modified Ford Contour, and I was saving up to buy a brand new,or almost new truck. I found a beautiful 2002 Sonoma SLS crew cab for $19k with low miles and just missed out on it by 2 days. After looking at vehicles,I found out I couldn't afford insurance on anything newer than 1998. A friend of mine had a Mazda for sale, and since I always wanted one,I figured I'd go check it out, even though it was everything that I wasn't looking for at the time....

I wanted an ext cab or crew cab truck,4x4,automatic,loaded,and be 2000 or newer and less than 150k KM. And what did I end up with? The complete opposite. 1989 reg cab,2wd,manual,no power options whatsoever...

...and I have never been happier. I bought the truck in March '06,so I've had it for nearly a year. I joined Bscene just after I bought it,and this place and the people, and the wealth of knowledge they have, has greatly helped my truck become what it is on it's way to be. I think I'm definetly bitten by the minitruck bug,and I don't see myself buying a car anytime soon. Only pickups and SUVs for me.

I may also add,the Mazda is my first truck, and I then bought an Isuzu Rodeo for a winter beater, but it died, lol. I'd like to get another Mazda for next winter.

I think my next project will most likely be an old school minitruck if I can find one. I'd love a pre85 Mazda,or an old Datsun or Toyota. But,I have to finish this truck first. I have my sights set full steam ahead on this truck. In less than a year, making only $10-12/hr,I have spent about $12 000 on my truck. Yikes!

i got my truck in '93 just after the '94's hit the lot just before my 17th
b-day, they had it and a teal green cab plus auto on the lot, after some haggling with the dealer, my grandmother & i bought it for $9997, which was a deal considering it had a window sticker just over $14k......it was my first vehicle, and about a 6 months after i got it, me & a couple of my buds in highschool who had s10's that were into the scene decided it needed a change of altitude, so one saturday me & them got it a little closer to the ground>cranked down the t-bars, 3" blocks in the rear and took out the overload leaf, i drove it like that for @ 3 years with a couple stereos, then i raised it back up because i was tired of replacing my tires every 6 months from the camber on the front, plus i had two run in-s with the local deer population, & not long after that the engine finally decided to give up the ghost, and i put it in my grandparents barn.....that was in '99, & i kinda figured one day that i would get a chance to fix it up like i really wanted to when i was younger, but didn't have the $$ to do so, well my grandmother passed oct 3-04 & i decided that it was now or never, & i pulled it out of the barn & started to work on it, i haven't gotten as far as i would like, but i have been working 6 or 7 days a week for the past year & a half so progress has been slow.....hopefully i can have it back together & at least running before summer is over......

Thats sweet! I wish I would have started that young,

When I turned 18, for my birthday I asked my gma for a 3000 dollar loan so I could pick up this awesome toyota for sale, bagged nice interior ran great, rhino bed liner, 15" wheels, it was sweet!. Well I eventually picked it up for 2000 it was a steal! I did some work on the interior and put some 18" wheels under it, and painted the stripe to match everything. That truck was beautiful, I got it in Ridin Around in Mini truckin, and I decided then that i needed to do a full build up of my own. I thought Mazdas looked so cool so I tried and tried to find one, and I finally got one... Bagged it last summer, now im tryin to throw a small block in it... well see where it ends up!
