Nothing like starting out young, because that's when you learn so much and that stuff will stay with you for the rest of your life.

My first car was an '87 Toyota Celica GTS that my dad bought for me. I had worked summer jobs since I was 15 to save up to buy a car when I got my licence. Shortly after I got my licence,my dad won a $15k jackpot at the casino and he was willing to give me $5000 cash to do whatever I wanted with,or buy me a car up to $5k. We found this mint Celica sitting in the back corner of a used car lot for $3695.

Before I got my licence,I was never really into modifying cars very much. I was more into classic stuff that if it was modified, was done all to the taste and spec of the era. I used to laugh at Hondas with kits...well,I admit I still do..but once I got the Celica,it was a pretty rare car (86-89s are impossible to find here),I drove it stock for about 3 months before I started getting the itch to put some wheels on it,tint the windows, put a stereo in it and basically make it my own. I drove that car all through highschool, from grade 10-12,and while all the other guys had their GMC pickups and riced out beat up Hondas,I was sitting in the lot pimpin the ladies with a super clean Celica. Let's just say that car only seated 4 people, but I fit 6 girls and myself in it once. lol,a lot of the time I'd randomly get girls coming up to me asking me if I could drive them home after school and stuff.

Hopefully the Mazda ends up like that, haha ....bah,women cost as much money as my truck. I'd rather have my truck because I know it won't cheat on me or leave me. "Hey,I saw you looking at that Hardbody! Don't even think about it,Mazda!"

the way i started...

i was like 12 or 13 riding around with my parents and i always saw this truck, a 98 ford ranger single cab that drove around town and was REALLY low to the ground.
i kept my eyes on that truck and i was like "damn" everytime i saw it. i knew at that point i wanted somethin taht i could work on and do that same thing to.

a year passes by and i'm 14, i get a 1978 Murray lawn mower... i start researching it a lot on the net and i figure out that i can lower down a tractor by takin the body off, flippin the chassis, rebuilding it, and boltin it on, laid it about 3" from the ground...

then i talked to a buddy about mowers and he helped me get it up to speeds of 65-75 mph. that workd for a while until i got a lil scared of it and sold it to a guy that was more into racing them.

at age 15, i got into a screwy deal with an indian where i traded title for title for my old 89 mazda b2200 single cab. i was supposed to get the truck and he was supposed to get the station wagon i had at that time. he passed away though... so i had the title and everything to the truck...

i dropped it hard and drove it a bit... then i decided to get another truck. at this time i'm in vertically challenged truck club, and the prez of my chapter had a decent 85 s10. i took it and made it my own... i broke ties with VC and got into pneumatics and cruised with them for a bit. they were the ones that got me into mini truckin. the ones that had the bagged 98 ranger in it!

when my family decided to move to oregon, i sold both projects and when i got here, my new club, custom creations, got me into my current ride.. a 92 mazda b2600i which is what i still work on daily.

and as i get more involved, so does my girlfriend, and i'm vowing to live my life with mini's til death do we part!

well, i have you all beat! i havent been into it as long as some of you because i am still young but my very first word was truck. as long as i have been alive i have been playing with matchbox cars. i got my very first truckin' mag when i was about 6 or 7 years old. as i grew up i kinda got away from trucks a little bit and got into imports (pre fast & furious). my neighbor bought a 94 s10 from my neighbor and i rode around with him all the time and he decided he wanted to fix it up. he ended up hitting a retaining wall on the interstate after his tie rod broke so that gave him an excuse to re do the truck, i can remember lookin for stuff to lower that truck when i was about 12 years old. it was all down hill from there. i bought a hydraulic setup and a full front clip off of an s10 when i was 14 and i went out and bought a 2 door jeep. at the same time i started hanging out with the guys from a local club called the family which is one of the best decisions i have ever made. from then on they taught me everything i know up to this point, and so far i have owned 3 bagged mazda's, a lowered mazda and a lowered nissan. still have a lot to learn but i think i have learned a lot.

I got interested in anything with a motor when I was about 2. When I was 4 I got my first bike and got addicted to speed.

I learned standard at 12 I learned to drive at 5, by myself at 8 (on private property with my dad in the car).

Until I was 12 I was into rebuilding lawnmower engines and making my bike go faster.

That year I got into designing gokarts which eventually turned into cars (mostly the mechanical aspect, I'm no artist). The summer I was 13 my mom got a brand new '98 protege and I was hooked on mazda's. I washed and detailed her car twice a week for the next few summers, she told me I could have it somday but even 9yrs later it's got 70000km and she wants to keep it.

I got my first car, after months of research, in grade 12. My dad wanted me to get a GM with a v6 or v8, I wanted somthing with good mileage and insurance. He suggested a 323 he'd seen, It was love at first drive, after a year I got in a accident and the car was totaled so I got another. It's a teal 5sp 93 323 SE, it's since received a built up bpt, SS exh, 16"s, kyb shocks 2"drop canuck motorsports springs, ACT clutch, Mx3 EBC "big brakes" with rear disc conversion, basicly a total of $8000 with no astetics (except rims for $300). This is an insanley fast car faster than a speed 3 (highway or off the line).

Then in september I was looking for a new dd and i got my b for $450 190000km needed only a windshield for cert very little rust and ran great but dirty so I cleaned it. It's great in the snow with weight in the back it can even back out of a ditch its great as a dd so its staying that way but I can see the hot rod potential with a turbo 4 or a v8

March 3, 1989 - after a few weeks of test driving every mini out there - picked the mazda cuz they gave us the best deal. Bought as a farm truck - if you can believe that. wasn't long till I started tinkering on it. static drop rims tires stereo paint you know the usual. while all the time being a farm truck hauling hay or towing an auger. always got a laugh from the feed mill loading it up with 1500+ pounds of feed bags in the back. was parked for a few years aas I was to save to redo it. Married - divorced - now I can work on it again without the nagging. haha

i was brought up around hot rods and lowriders. my first car was a 65 mustang fastback gt 350h replica. my dad got it for me for a grand when i was 14 and we restored it from the ground up. when i was in high school there were a few trucks around that were bagged. 2 of the guys were featured in mini truckin within the last couple of yrs. i was in shop class with one of the guys. his name was lonnie, he was featured in dec. 04 with a 1990 coolant green ext cab mazda. one of the few trucks featured in mini truckin rollin on 16's. this was the same truck he had in high school, i remember it was just black with bags, and it had the same wheels that he was featured with. anyways, i would pull up to shop class and work on my mustang while he worked on his mazda. i have to say i think we had the 2 baddest rides in the entire school at the time. as soon as i laid eyes on his truck i wanted one. then i went into the marine corps, got my girl knocked up, ended up getting married, had 2 more kids and have been broke ever since. when i got out of the marine corps, i started looking for a project. i came across my 89 at an auto repair shop. the owner said that it had been there for like 2 yrs and the lady that owned it wanted to sell it. her son was a morron, he wrecked everything he drove. he put this thing on its side and blew up the engine. so i got it for 150 bucks and then bought a parts truck and peiced together what is now my very reliable daily. then i found this site and fell in love with the pre 86's. i started looking for a stock pre 86 and came across a fully customized 83. scooped it up and as soon as i get a house it is going in the garage and getting completely stripped down and rebuilt by me and whoever wants to help. i love these trucks and pretty much everything not stock.

stock sucks.
