my rear gave out!!

lost 1 tooth, than 2, then a few, than eventually all...

the truck only has a little over 100k miles too...

anyway

can anyone tell me what year and model rear ends will fit in my 87 b2000???

i thought i read somethin about 87 and newer and different from 86 and older but idk. also, do the bigger b series trucks have the same rear?

please help i need to get this truck back on the road asappppp

also would i be able to instal just new gears in it or do i have to put in a whole different rear assembly. which is easier? thanks!!!

86 thru 93 i believe are all pretty much the same

i dont' think that you can buy the ring & pinion from mazda any more...dont' know...also, it would depend on if when it came apart if it
broke any thing else.....86-93 b2200's are the same, the b2600 rears are different, at least in the 4x4's, not for sure on the 2 wd 2600's though. the pre 86 rears are narrower, weaker, and they mount different.

a suggestion would be to find either find a good rear for our trucks, or the whole rear or just the lsd chunk out of a 83-85 rx-7 gsl, or 84-85 gsl-se, all of these came with lsd, the gsl had 9" solid disc brakes, a 4 x100 lug pattern that used lug studs instead of nuts....the gsl-se had 10" vented disc, and a larger 4x114 lug pattern, the chunk is a direct fit & will give you limited slip....or you could swap out the whole axle, which is slightly narrower than the trucks & would have to modify the axles or swap them out to get the 6 lug pattern.....

speaking from expierience, try your hardest to get the exact same year and model that you have, or you may run into problems with your axles not going back in right if the rear is different, you should be able to pick up the pumpkin assembly at your local junkyard, thats what i did. disconnect the brake lines, take of four bolts on each axle holding it in, disconnect the e-brake cable, drain the fluids ( probably best to do that first lol ) then take off the 10 or 12 bolts holding the rear pumpkin assembly in place, careful that fucker is heavy. clean out the rear very good, and also down in the axle housings, make sure that there arent any metal shavings left over. should take a couple hours,

good luck

thanks everyone for the input.

im not really into modding my mazdaronni... it would be cool to do a motor swap, but i just dont feel like it...

i just use it for haulin my dirtbike, haulin engines for my other cars, and pizza delivery

im really tryin to get her back on the road asap.. its sad seein her sit without use.

for future reference everyone, DONT park on steep hills in gear. im pretty sure thats what sent my rear over the edge.

thanks again for the input
