Hello all ,
First time poster here with a problem I hope somebody can help me with:
I got a 90 B2200 that shocks the shit outta me every time I get out of the truck. I've learned to just try and touch plastic or glass when I shut the door, but I would like to fix the problem for good. its bone stock, auto. regular cab base model with a carb. I've seen those ground wires you can get on ebay ($7 for the wires, $18 for shipping)but that looks like something you get if you got a hydro system or a killer power amp.
has anybody ever tried them and do they make a difference?
what else can I check to try and correct this? thanks, LeftyNC

first of all,welcome to Bscene.

I've never heard of that problem with anyone else, but there are those goofy looking rubber 'ground' strips that attach to the bottom of your vehicle and drag along the road. You usually see old folks sportin themon their old Buicks and Escorts. Not sure if those would help though.

You could always wear rubber gloves, lol

I 'd thought about doing that but i'm not 80yrs old and driving an oldmobile lol
seriously though I'd just mount it where it cannot b seen,
Oh and welcome!

sounds like you might have a poor ground on something, check all of your grounds, one from battery to body, alt to body, engine to firewall, bed to cab, and there may be a few more.......do you have any kind of aftermarket stereo equip? also you could just have a good static charge from the fabric, i think frebreze has some anti static spray, or maybe something as such in the fabric care isle @ your local wally world, take it & spray your interior......i too have gotten static shock, but mostly on cold low humidity days......

as for

those would be almost as kool as curb feelerz, lol haha!

The way to keep from getting shocked is to grab the metal door frame BEFORE u put ur feet on the ground when getting out.BJ

i haven't had it happen to me in the maz, but it happens all the time in y dodge when it's cold out, but yeah, grab the door befor you hit the ground.

Thanks for all the imput, guys. yes I do have a sony 35 watt per channel CD player thats straight wired to the battery. thats the only way I could get the memory presets to work. and I also have those nylon seat covers. But from the size of the jolt I get, I'm thinking it has to be a ground thats off somewhere. it will jump a blue spark gap about a quarter inch from my key to the lock at night. I know what "rug shock" feels like and its a whole lot more than that.thanks NYTRDR24 for pointing out the grounds. This is my first mazda and I don't have a repair manual for it yet. grounding the stereo sounds like it might help too.
thanks again for all your help, glad I found this site its great, LeftyNC

hmmm...i used to have my stereo hardwired to the battery too,and I also put new seats in,and I've never been shocked getting in or out of my truck.

Anyways, you can wire your stereo up properly without wiring it to the battery. One of our resident stereo guru's will be able to help. I would, but I forget the colors of the wires and don't exactly feel like pulling my deck out to see.

NYT,they aren't curb feelers...they're air dam/bumper splitters for make car go super fast! Add those with the 'ground' strips and those will help keep the car planted on the road. Super downforce! lol
