NEED early Trans. gasket!!!

I need a gasket for my transmission, ASAP. Its a rubber or plastic gasket, about 5/16-3/8" thick that goes between the shift lever retainer, and where that mounts on the tail shaft extension. Here is the breakdown, highlighted is the gasket I need.


Its for a 1980 Toyota W50 5-speed transmission. It has 4 bolt holes. If anyone has a spare one, can find a new one, or has any suggestions please let me know. My truck is down ATM until I get this resolved.

would an 84 tranny be different? oh and whyd you break it?

They used this transmission up to 84, but they also used 3 other transmissions in 84. If its got 4 bolts holes, instead of 5 or 6 then it will work. And if you can find one you will have saves my ass once again.

And I didn't break it. At some point, on the way back from Oregon I think, it cracked and started spewing fluid out. Now its cracking in other areas and loosing fluid really fast now, and I can't keep enough fluid in it to drive the truck more than a few miles before it starts getting really hot from not enough fluid. So my truck is up on jackstands with the transmission halfway out until I figure this out.

well i will see if i have the 4 bolt one.... i have a tranny 5 spd outta a 84 (that blue on you saw we use for a trailer) if its the same one ill ship it to you via usps haha. ill letcha know

hey bro, go to your local auto parts store and ask them for some gasket material. they make flat sheets out of different materials and you can make your own gasket. most rolls are only a couple of bucks.

I have gasket paper. I need the 3/8" thick plastic spacer. Or whatever the exact measurement is. If its bigger or smaller the shifter won't work.

That would be really freakin awesome! If you find this I'm gonna have to bag your truck or something for all the times you've saved my ass.

i can get you some shim stock if you can't get the spacer. just let me know. then you can make it whatever size it needs to be.
