Well long story short, I been helping a guy start up his business for the past year helping him set up the building coming over endless nights to help work on shit for free, so I recently started working for him for about 3 weeks, it fell through he couldn't stick to his word on working monday-friday 10:30am-5pm, and the whole how much I was getting was ass backwards. So i got frustrated finally went and got another job, well once he heard this it was kinda a weird feeling. So I noticed he wouldnt answer my calls or text messages.

The whole deal in a nutshell. I help him set the building up and such and other little nick nack things and he would do the backhalf on my truck, nothing to sick just a simple 2x3 box tubing backhalf with a bag on bar setup. So he finally tells me bring your truck over and we will start on it So here my truck has been sitting almost for 2 months. I understand I shouldn't get greddy because of the price I was getting and get pushy. But in that whole span of the year I never pushed the issue untill he said bring your truck over. At the time I was still currently working for him when I brought my truck over, now with this new job and me making almost twice as much as he was paying me, he wont answer his phone or text. So i have no clue whats going on, Im now at the point to were I am about to go get my truck take it back to my dads garage break down and drop some $$$ on a good welder.

My question is, should I stick this out and wait for him to just do it. Or just go get my truck put it in the garage save money and do it myself. I can do the work myself because I had a weird feeling this would happen, and I did nothing but research about this, but for the price he would give me I wouldnt need to break down and buy a welder.

sorry for the long message. but this is why nothing has been done to my truck for a while.

I would go talk to him be nice and civil and see what he has to say. If he does not say things you wont to hear then get your truck and go home.

but how can you go to him when he doesnt answer your text or phone calls. I finally got tired of this before and just showed up to his house a week ago and he was out working in the shop, and he fed me this bullshit line " were am I usually at in the house or here in the shop, I dont have time to babysit my phone" so my responce, " how the hell can you run a business and neverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr answer your phone not just for me. But for also the past customers that you have had that I recommended to you. All you gotta do is say im in the shop instead of avoiding me. " it just frustrates the hell outta me that once told him i got a new job it was like night and day difference with the way things were.

Here I recommend people to him and he sets a deadline for them on when they will get there vechicle back and hes overdue on it going on 2 weeks, they call me asking questions on why its not back. So I look like a dumbass for recommending them to him.

hmm.....well it sounds like he thinks ur gonna fuck him outts business. so now hes pissed and he wont return any of ur calls. hes avoiding you, so i would go and get the truck ouuta his shop, fuck being civil, just take it, he wants to act like a bitch, then u be a bitch back at him!!!!

Yeah I have been pretty patient as far as the whole waiting thing and I never pushed the issue on when my truck was gonna get done, first there was no price on what my backhalf was gonna cost. The reason before why I waited was he kep telling me " wait till we get everything in the shop blah blah blah" but everything is in the shop now and its same old bullshit, But Granted it would almost be free except i paid for materials and no labor cost, last time we spoke he talked about a price. Which really wasnt that big of a deal because I would pay for some, but not on the way he was leaning towards. so i guess ima suck it up and go get my metal and truck, I got a stick of 2x3 so looks like ill cut it in half tie it down and take it home. I have tryed every way to do this as nicely as I can but I never get a phone call or a text.

I have brought in about 3 trucks within the last couple months that I know helped him financially when he needed it. When they had a couple tiny problems nothing major they would call me or email me WHY? because he wouldnt answer his phone.

Its sad its happening this way because we have been friends for a while and I thought I knew him and everything was fine but I guess I see the true side now. Granted I learned alot watching his work and learning from it but it doesn't ammount to how much respect I have lost for him with the way I seen things go down between us recently.

Its all about him, but when it came down to helping me its like I dont even exist.

But what really gets to me the most is when he cant admit when hes in the wrong sure its hard for anyone but to try to keep sugarcoating the shit is quite annoying and funny at the same time.

I will no longer promote his shop, I will no longer talk to him after I get my truck.
On a business level I dont see the shop lasting much longer with the kind of customer service that he does. Word of mouth is everything is this minitruckin business and with how I seen things first hand over the past year it wont last for him. I hate putting it out here on blast but it needs to be said.

I wont mention the actual shop though.

From what I am reading I would have to recommend getting your ride back. I will be honest with you, I am not very good with deadlines either. Mostly because the work I do in the garage is side work, not my main source of income. That being said, I am atleast honest with my customers and have never avoided calls. For some reason, this approach seems to work.

Again, go get your ride!

I understand that bro but this is his actual job his main source of income. This is what he does 5 days a week he has not had a job in over 2 years.

From my point and a business level if a actual shop quoted you 2 weeks on a job and your now running into that 4 week somethings wrong.

But I mean if its a sidejob and on a friends level I could accept that.

But I will be getting my truck together this week then pics coming soon lol

well you can look at it this way. if he is already late and being a dick about it how good of a job do you think he is going to do. he knows he is not gettin paid for the labor and the next truck that is waiting is a paying truck. i say if he does do it. he will cut corners and not be extra carefull about it. because obviously he doesnt have to deal with negative feedback because he just doesnt hear any feedback due to not answering calls. ill say it again. dude go get your truck. misewell just eat the hours you spent settin up the shop and just learn the lesson.
