Son of a bitch, anyways, I was wanting to tell you that I fixed the intake backfire problem with a new manifold gasket and the permatex trick. But it still shuts off after a minute or two and wont crank up. Brand new plugs, fouled out from to much gas. Would it be wise to send the carb off to be rebuilt since I know nothing about carbs or is there something else that may be causing the problem I can check first?

if its a new carb it shouldnt need rebuilt. Did you use a pressure regulator? you might be leaning it out too much with one. get a clear fuel filter and see if there is fuel getting there.

anyone tell me why I'm not getting pms?

Russ, its not a brand new carb. Was on my old truck for about 8 months and then I wrecked the old truck. Only thing messed up on the motor was the fan. But I never tried to crank it again until I swapped it into a new truck a few days later. I have a clear filter and it stays full of gas except for right after its been ran. I pulled the line coming into the filter off today and crunk it up, it ran, then shut off like usual. No fuel came out of the line though....very interesting. I know its hooked up right, not backwards I mean, and Ive double checked it twice. So apparantly Im not getting fuel, although the new plugs are black and slightly wet?

just a ??? is the PCV hooked up if not hook it up the other day mine would not stay running for nothing mainly cuase i forgot to hook the PCV up. when i put the hose back on the intake the truck started up just fine

russ it wasnt a love letter it was a lust letter you know im a sucker for fat guys in little trucks

then its a fuel delivery problem did you crank it up and remove the line before or after the filter. whats your fuel pump like

PCV is hooked up. I removed the line before the filter. I blew out the filter and lines. Might as well go ahead and put my fuel cell in. Fuel pump is a factory piece. Gasket was leaking once and I had another pump off a wrecked truck that I cleaned up and stuck it on when I changed the gasket. Had 92K on the motor it came off of.

Your float may be stuck from sitting, so fuel builds up in the float bowl while cranking and then the float never opens fully and it runs out of gas once running.

But you say there was no fuel coming from your line? Check the pickup screen in the tank, it could be sucking up rust which kills the engine, then the rust falls back down after the pump stops sucking.

And I'd go to the InterKansas House of pancake but I'm afraid of his love.
