You'd know what we're talking about if you had to use your tools for a living. craftsman is great for the weekend warrior. but take any service tech in a car dealership, or an aviation mechanic, or any other profession that uses hand tools all day every day... they expect more, and won't settle for less. they may have a few cheaper tools, but the majority will be a better brand.
nobody said you can't loosen and tighten a few bolts on your truck with cheap tools, so you don't have to play that card anymore...
As for craftsman tool boxes... i have 3. i'm looking to buy a different brand. i have so many damn tools that all my drawers are so full i've got a clusterfuck! its time for a bigger box, and craftsman only goes so big... and once you have tools to fill that so big box, it weighs a lot, so the craftsman box doesn't hold up to the weight as well as a box that has thicker walls, and more welds per inch, bigger castor wheels, and such and such.
just my opinion i guess...

Well I do use my tools on a daily basis.I work for a man in Daytona Beach We do all sort of custom sheetmetal fabrications and we restore anything Pre-72. Just last week I was workin on a 67 vette 427 4spd Vert'
We always get the job done,I've been workin for him for almost 2 years now.We never quit because a tool broke. This man has also been doin it since the mid 70's.
So I do a lil more than just "tighten a few bolts" I've actually taken pride in the build of my truck and yeah I've had to buy probably $600 worth the junk tools to get the job done.Since I've started I havent broken a thing.
Maybe I'm not hard enough on my tools?
I mean really what does it matter.......My truck will be just as nice.Thats what really counts,I or atleast I thought...

no dude it doesn't matter what kind of tools you have when its all said and done. as long as you get the job done...
just 1 question tho - why do you talk crap about your customers in your sig?

craftsman is great for starting out bro, don't get me wrong. but when it comes to quality tools they don't come close. working around the house or small vehicles they work fine. but when you have to take out hardware that is corroded or is torqued with about 600 ft lbs of torque and you strip the head of the bolt because the socket is weak/craftsman, you won't think twice about buying snap-on and matco tools. i work all day long with guys that buy craftsman and harbor freight hand tools and who do you think they go to when they need to get a bolt out that they can't get with their tools?the guys with the snap-on or matco tools. i have craftsman tools at both work and at home, i bought them when i first started out, but the first thing i grab for is my snap-on ratchet, matco sockets, and gearwrench wrenches.

Shit I feel poor now. I use hand me downs and what ever I can get that fits. lol I do agree that if I used them everyday to make my bread and butter....high end all of the way. From personal experience Air tools really need to be thought out before buying if using daily. I used to work in manufacturing and we would run 1/2" air guns pretty much 24/7. We had snap on's, macs, walmart shit, and ir. I ended up hiding my snap on gun. Oiled it daily...(12 to 13 hour shifts using it about 30 min each hour) and cleaned it regulary. It work great till some damn crack head took it...fed up from there on out. I say if you are going to school and plan on using the tools daily to make your bread and butter. Invest now expecially with deep discounts. As you can see from this thread it is personal opinion on the tools. Craftsman are great for me...but I gaurentee they would never have lasted in the plant. Good luck and keep your head in the school thing.

oh shit bro, i didn't know that they made the classic 96 with a cabinet. i love the classic 96 boxes bro. nice buy. i wanted to trade my rare snap-on box for a classic 96 but the snap-on dealer told me he would only give me 1500 bucks for it. i said never mind. he gives 1000 bucks for any toolbox no matter what brand or condition so 1500 for mine was a shot to the nuts. you will love the work space on that badboy. i would suggest going to lowes and get some wood for the top or something man. again, nice buy!
