I've been doing that since I was 17... and I'm...umm..multiply by 2,add 4,carry the 7....uh...21 now.

...and I could have had a brand new one paid off by now.

Maztang,I've never even heard of 401k,so can't provide you with much info.

actually hoc,to date, the mazda is my longest and most expensive project, and this one actually has the potential to be finished by next year. I gave up on everything else I had because they ended up with such high miles and dying or needing too much mechanical work to bother fixing. Once I had the engine rebuilt in the Mazda over the summer,I knew this one was a keeper.

Hopefully this place doesn't turn out like the insulation factory I got hired at. They worked 12 hour continental shifts there, and on my first day I lasted 7 and a half hours before I was puking my guts out, left and never returned.

I live 2-3 blocks from the new yota plant and they're talking about the rav4 plus a subcompact now. the plant will be the biggest building in town and we already have gm's main north american warehouse here (and it's only 1km from the new toyota)

As for the health care your dr visits are covered (except special circumstances) anything life threatening/nessisary to have a normal life type surgery (no to most plastic surgery) and most drugs aren't free/subsidised. My mom works for the school board (and I hope to as well) and gets EVERYTHING 100% covered she gets $40/pill migrane pills free through work and glasses/ dental surgery ....... for the family but that's a govt job for you good pay, security, 100% free health care.

Yeah,I understand the keeper part.If I had kept all the Mazdas that have passed thru my life, my address would be Bens Home for Homeless Mazdas and my wife would have been long gone--hmm--just kidding Ms. HOCBJ.BJ

It's called a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (or RRSP for short).

What ever you invest in a given calendar year gives you a deduction on your taxes.

There are banks in Canada who will lend you money to invest in an RRSP and then you can usually pay off the loan with the tax refund.

What I advise people to do is invest a consistent amount every paycheck into an RRSP and watch the numbers grow thankx to the magic of compound interest. The $20 you invested on January 1 is worth way more at the end of the year than the $20 you invest on Dec. 31 of that same calendar year.

If you can, I also advise to re-invest the tax refund into a new RRSP, as well as making regular contributions. Now you're really laughing 'cause it's like investing free money.

Cheers !!

ah RRSPs...yeah I have to start those. I just turned 21 so I should probably get crackin on those.

Inferno,I applied to Cambridge when they had the online applications a couple months ago and it took me 3 hours to do it!! Took me 2 months to get a letter from them saying they were just reviewing my application.

Ya, I started on those in my late-twenties... and then I got divorced. It was my ex-wife's idea actually, she had her midlife crisis early and decided she enjoyed boffing a man other than myself.

The Canadian justice system has some funny ideas about child custody, and since my ex-wife was a stay-at-home Mom (and I use the term loosely), and that infidelety is no longer grounds for divorce, all it cost me was my house, one of my cars, my huge garage, half of my pension plan and I also got to pay all the marital debts.

I ended cashing in my RRSPs to pay my legal fees and I still ended up bankrupt.

Oh well, better all that then still being married to the b*tch.

Cheers !!
