well if my week couldnt get any worse i was working on the truck in the garage using the grinder with a cut off wheel and wouldnt you know it catches and comes down slices my leg open to the point you can see the fatty tissue surrounding my knee..... would you guys go and get stitches its only about 1-1.5 inches long hurts like hell

if it's that deep, yea I'd get stitches

You don't want it getting infected, especially around your knee.

Since I wear glasses (since age 12) I always use a full-face shield to keep crap from damaging my glasses and, of course, my eyes.

Good luck with your injury. I hope you heal 100%. Of the 5 senses, sight is the last one I would want to lose.

I have years of experience with first aid so try this:

1. Washing out the wound with a sterile solution to make sure there is no foreign matter in there.
2. Close the wound with butterfly strips (aka paper stitches).
3. Keep a close eye on the wound to make sure it does not get infected.
4. Take two aspirins and call me in the morning.

BTW, I am not a doctor so don't try to blame me if anything goes wrong.

Better yet, go see a dcotor and get stitches if you think they are necessary.

Just found thread - OUCH! Crazy part of it is I can relate. About 4 years ago got a piece of metal in my eye but didn't realize it until 3-4 days later. Went to hospital and Dr. had to pull the metal out and then grind out the rust with the Dremal. OK, so that sucked - you would think I would remember. Nope, got anouth piece of metal in the other eye about 2 years later; again, not wearing safety glasses. Now that my older daughter is out in the garage helping me I am constantly reminded to put on the damn glasses

Anyway, I wish you the best of luck with the eye! As for the cut, stitches would probably be the best bet. Usually then pump you so full of novacane you can't even feel them stitch ya up (can ya tell I not a rookie with stitches either).

Anyway, good luck.

LOL! Immortal, I swear, you have a good daughter on your hands!

Guys' I'm not here to be Mr. Safety and all, but REMEMBER, your well-being matters more than getting a project done with injury! Consider your safety FIRST before ANYTHING!

Well, if you want, for cuts, I always used super glue instead of stitches! It works GREAT! Its not going to give you an infection either... Although, I strongly recommend you do not try and super glue yourself back together if you go to the bone, or if your intestines are falling out!

I guess back in vietnam they INVENTED super glue for a quick fix!
