not bad for your first time and using a flux core welder just remeber to make sure all the flux is cleaned off and all little wholes are welded up.

you actually dont need to weld the whole way around it just tack it in REALLY good.....
welding all the way around be careful not to warp the panel

yeah I know it doesnt need to be and I was being real careful to try not to warp it and of course there is a little but not as bad as some I have seen, the whole reason that it is welded up that much is because I was wanting to use as little filler as possible. I made the place myself and it wasnt long enough so I was like oh well I will work with what I got... thanks guys

not bad...probably better then what i can do...i've never welded anything before...i want to learn ssssoooooo bad though!

are u planning on relocating the handle? cause i wanna do this but i am tryin to think of the best way to relocate the handle to the inside of the tailgate.
deviousb2200   +1y
actually the handle broke off so I took the panel off inside and just pull the bars.. I am however just planning on welding the gate shut and calling it a day..Also I have never welded before and found out its not really that hard. I would however suggest using something other than flux core..

i dunno a tack every CM or (1/4 inch fou you non metric guys)... is all i have ever put in my fillers.. never had a problem.

looks pretty good for your first time but you really should tack weld it soild and grind it smooth if you dont weld it soild over time moisture will seep in from behind between your metal and body filler causing it to crack over time.
