Been living in an apartment for a couple months now. Felt it was time for a lil self-protection. You know, some people dont fight alone, and well, It's fun to shoot monkeys in a barrel.

Saturday (the 15th) there was a gun & knife show out here. I wanted to by a Springfield Armory XD-45 acp. They were over $500. So I stepped back, held a few difft. guns, from S&W, Walther, Taurus, Baretta, Glock, and a few others, including Ruger. Well.....my future father-in-law and his good friend was there also. They asked what I was intrested in, and told me to think about it before I get it. So I did. I changed my mind after holding and talking about 12 to 15 different pistols. My older sister has a Ruger P89 (9mm) from '96 or '97, they've put close to 2500 rounds thru it, and its never had problems, no jams, nothing. SO I went with a Ruger as well.

Ruger P345 in stainless...

Yeh, i'm gonna go to the gun safety class with my fiancee, and do a bit of target practice and stuff. I shot it 1 time today. from 25 feet I was .5" low and to the right from dead center. I'll take a pic of my target I made and show the shot. Fairly accurate, in my opinion.

Sounds like a good idea.

Doesn't seem like a bad shot for the first time...

Called today, got info, and application for the Consealed Handgun Permit. The course is $140. I'll take it later on, when I know for CERTAIN I'll pass the shooting test.

when you go and target shoot always make sure and wear ear plugs. even if its just one shot. most people can stand hearing it and think that it doesnt affect you. most people dont know that it does extreme damage to your ear drum when not wearing them. i know a guy that was in the marines and went to target practice and shot several times. he still has a ringing in his ear and that was 6 years ago.

I got a dozen shooters ear plugs from Academy, they are 32dB NR. Thats the highest I've seen. I worked in chemical plants, and refineries where ear plugs are a NECESSITY, and the highest I saw was 26 dB NR. But I got some, no worries, hehe. And this is coming from someone who's ALWAYS had hard hitting sound systems (150+ dB in my Chevy, removed in May).
