i remember there was a topic a while back that had that one that was "unibodied and body dropped 6 inches" or whatever and i tried to find the pix but the site that originally hosted it is no longer around...

Unibodies are cool to me. I just haven't seen one that wasn't wavy or tweaked. The problem is the cab is on rubber mounts and the bed is solid mounted to the frame. In order not to have major stress cracks in the body, I think you should rubber mount the bed. The frames on these trucks have a certain amount of flex built into them, that is the reason for the bed gap. I always wanted to do this to the roadster and even shave the doors. Good luck in your build. I would love to see how you do it.

I cant remember what type of truck it was, but it was in I think Street Trucks magazine a number of years back. The owner uni-bodied his truck and he stated that he boxed the whole frame and ditched the rubber cab mounts and solid mounted the entire uni-body to prevent any cracking or warpage.

i think you'll be alright as long as your over build it. just make it super rigid. you wont be back for a while so you got time to figure it all out. let me know when you start on it though i'll drive out and give you a hand.

But how will you do a tilt bed?

I don't really care for it, but the green one above needs to fab that bumper to match or toss it. Looks half assed with the amount of body work already done to it.
