Ah thanks, my interlock must be bad because I can shift into any gear without touching a thing. Damn, another thing to add to my list of to dos.

Actually it might just be stuck. If you spilled coffee or soda in it could cause it to stick. Just take the cover off and see what happening. Very easy.

I'll use this opportunity to say that I'm looking for a grey cover for that thing! It was missing when I bought the truck!

there's a few people in the classifieds parting out trucks, try them.

Actually, it was proven that none of them had any malfunction of any sort - Toyota even had NASA (yeah, sounds odd) do testing on the computers (they tried extreme temperatures, other torture tests) and could not duplicate any of the issues reported. The NHTSA also did testing and the results basically that it was driver error in every case:

In the 80's Audi went through a similar fiasco - it started when a woman ran over her son in the garage when the hit the gas instead of the brake (tragic accident.) But, she blamed the car, then all kinds of others came out with their stories. It ended up the same - all cases were driver error (hitting the wrong pedal) - it almost bankrupted Audi in the process.

I was a Toyota tech during all that crap and we did hundreds of pedal repairs. Never saw a problem with any of them. Not computer, just dumb drivers and people jumping in the band wagon for a quick buck.
