Whats up guys ive got a problem like usual. So I recently re-wired my compressors. I got dual 480s (2) 20 amp switches and (2) 12v 40 amp relays everything is wired up correctly with proper gauge wire inline fuses for relays have 20 amp fuses both wired the same but one my compressors keeps blowin fuses once it runs til 180 psi the problem is once I cut it off and try to cut it back on it blows the fuse now y does just this one compressor does this the other I can cut on and off many times and works everytime plz can someone help me out im gettin tired of this bs thanks

why not run a pressure switch?

I'd use one 80A relay for both compressors and use a pressure switch in series with the ignition switch. And I'd use 1 inline fuse rated at about 50A for both compressors.

If you don't want to change your setup, step up the size of the inline fuses to 25A each.
The Viar 480's draws 20A. Your 20A fuse is too small. The rating for the protected fuse should be 125% of the full load current.

I dont like pressure switches personally but I dont want to change my,setup I just put, that extra money in re wiring the truck ill try the 25 amp fuses ans let u know how it works thanks guys

What size wire did you use from the battery to the relay? I want to make sure it won't burn up before the fuse blows.

Edit: 8 or 10AWG would be best. I would not use anything smaller.

I got 10 gauge from battery to relay and 10 gauge from relay to compressor

Should i run a 40 amp fuse since its a 40 amp relay or keep with 20 amp
kovz   +1y
No, that is too big. Your full load amps of the compressor is 20A. You want to size your fuse to be 125% of that = 25A.
Your relay is not a breaker or fuse. Your fuse is what is protecting the circuit. The relay only acts as a switching source and is rated at a maximum of 40A continuously.

Ok well i tryed the 25 amp fuse and once it reached above 150psi i shut it off and tryed to turn it back on and i blew that just one the other compressor i can turn on and on when ever and its fine and it has a 20 amp fuse

I have never wired a compressor before, but check your grounds. If I remember correctly, d/c runs grounds out. MAke sure they are short and on a clean (no paint) surface. Either run same awg wire or larger.
