is it just me, the area i live in or is it nationwide, but people have over priced vehicles they act like its gold for a stock truck despite edmunds and kelly blue book not having values, a 93 is worth 2k in great shape, people want 3k 3500 for a stock 87 mazda b2000. theres guys who want a 500-1000 for non running/non smogable/back tagged almost a grand in dmv fees.

I've noticed a trend with this also. I think its because its a buyers market and sellers know they are going to have a battle selling something.

B-truck prices here are high compared to what others post for their areas.

alot of people also hope for a "sucker" or that one person that absolutely has to have that vehicle at that time.

"sucker" standing for either the people that have absolutely NO real sense of value and will listen to anything the seller tells them
or
someone that just doesnt care as long as it gets them somewhere and its first thing they come across.

Key word want. People can ask whatever they want, getting what they wasn't is another story. The vast majority of the joe blow car buying public doesn't know squat about purchasing, or selling cars for that matter, so they will end up over paying.

As car selling goes you can always drop the price during negotiations but you can never raise it so starting high is the rule.

Here in Ohio things are still rough economically so IF someone is selling a car they will ask a lot to "make up" a short fall somewhere else...

Case in point, I just sold a car Tuesday. The guy didn't even "haggle", he offered $500 below my asking price and I took it.

In Canada I have noticed a big shift in the custom market but like everything else, its supply in demand and anything is only worth what people are will to pay for it. As theses trucks get older, there are less and less that have survived. The less there are, the more the price goes up. 5 years ago I could search Kijiji and find at least 10 within 100 kms from me ...... now there is only 4 in Ontario. The last of this body style are 21 years old now so prices going up on them are not a surprise and $3000 for a 21 year old truck that is in great shape is not an unreasonable amount. Blue/black book prices are a fix for dealers and insurance companies ........ things are worth what people will pay. If every B owner upped their vehicle price by a few thousand dollars and held out for that price then they would shift the market to pay $5000 for a $3000 vehicle and hence making their vehicle worth $5000 because .... that's what someone would pay for it. I honestly feel that these trucks are way undervalued. A B series with the same mods as an s10 should be worth more for the simple fact that there are at least twice as many s10's as B series.

Right now in Canada mini trucks are way down with lots on the market (with the exception of Mazdas). There are lots out there, you can buy a mint square body dime with 350/air ride/paint/interior/etc for around $6000. If you can find a B they are always about $1000 less then an equivalent S10. Another huge gap is the S10 blazer, getting very hard to find here and still not worth anything. The mini truck market has taken a huge hit.

The full size trucks have made a huge jump especially the 73-87 GM's. 3 years ago you could buy one that was done for $6000-7000 and now they have doubled. 20 years ago the 4X4 market was very limited, now everyone wants 4wd and lifted.

see and i wonder how much the cash for clunkers program, along with the crap economy has done away with stuff plus the increase in scrap metal prices. literally if im driving during the day time i cant go a day without seeing a single repo tow truck privately owned. i know in cali i see multiple of the b series trucks in the junk yards cause of the smog regulations.
