Justin man, I know how ya feel. I'm all the time thinking there is something better I could be doing with my time to make more money. Sadly, I lack in the skill category lol. I wish I knew metal work like you do, but then as you say, doing it for work then it becomes a job and takes the fun out of it. I want to be an artist of some sort, just not sure how yet.
What I did do in the past was an auto parts biz online...mostly via Ebay. This was during the height of the import scene. I did ok until someone screwed me pretty bad. I had sold $30k worth of parts in about 6 month's time. But even with this biz I got tired of my supplier not getting parts in....the most popular parts no doubt...and me getting cussed out by buyers.
I've got a decent, ok good, FT job for the City here. I make good money. But I've always felt there's something else I could be doing. I'm doing Religious Studies right now because I am called to be a youth pastor, but already volunteer my time with that, and needless to say, working in the church right now is not the most secure place to work.
So like you, I sit wondering, "what else could I be doing to make some extra cash? I've got an entrepreneurial spirit about me. My aunt has a screen printing biz. Maybe I should try and help her out some? But when do I have the time to learn?"
Haha so I know how ya feel man. Just keep searching bro. Something will hit you one day.
Figure out your passions. That's something that helped me realize God's calling in my life. What are you passionate about, and how can that help you make a living?
Things I've gone through:
Real estate advertising/investing
Auto parts sales
Music biz - finding and signing talent
Woodwork - I still want to do more of this especially now I have a place where I can do it.
Auto repair
