it would be expensive to start, just to pick up enough supplies to make all the molds needed, the liquids to make the actual casted parts, and if you have a set of clear lenses and corners you could also cast those and start makin sets... if you built in the semi truck lights, made the custom buckets, made clear lenses to go with them, i think they would need to be sold for atleast a bill or more. the semi truck lights are going to run you 60 just for 4 led lights, plus you need to factor in exactly how much each set is going to cost you to actually build and make sure you put in a slight markup just so you arent breaking even for busting your ass. ive spent a couple hours today fondling heavily over this possible part production just to bring in some money to pay the bills, i wish i had the funding to be able to start this kind of under going... i would pump out plenty of sets as soon as i got started up... i would so quit my job delivering pizzas...

Well I found out the led taillights alone are $20 a shot thru napa. So fully loaded buckets and led boards I think would at least be a bill.
91extcab - the red is some plastic tube that some tint was in.

there is a place here locally that deals with big rig parts and those lights are something they have... runnin 15 a piece...

oh and that red looked like it might have been body filler or something... bondo... thats why i was asking... wasnt sure what you used to shape the bowls...

I wouldn't mass produce them anyway, the whole reason we do this kinda stuff is to stand out from the croud isn't it?
Not being nasty or anything, I just mean when you look at it when you're done and say to yourself that you made it and there's no others out there like it, it just feels that much better.

In saying that I've thought many times of making something like that but I thought about using the LED brakelights that are mounted in the back window of cars and fiting two of them vertically behind the lens on either side or making a pcb using either 1watt smd bulbs or the bigger 10mm LED's, just gotta decide which one to do.
I don't think any of these idea's will look as cool as yours though

even if you do make them just to stand out... if you can make a profit off it to pay your bills to feed your family i dont think you wouldnt do it. not everyone will buy them otherwise everyone would be running the ebay special aftermarkets out there. say i get the stuff and make 100 sets and that pays my bills for the month or more if im lucky. thats 100 sets. not everyone will get to have them. and how often would you really expect to see another set? plus get to make your money back on purchasing the equipment that you can use for something else if you so chose. we may do things to stand out but its the person that does it and makes it simpler for the rest of us is genius. we may choose to do a bj flip or just buy drop spindles. now the guy who designed the spindles has made things easier for those of us that dont have the access to all the right tools or materials. so you pay for convenience. if it wasnt for that guy they wouldnt have started mass producing those spindles. if there werent a need or want for them. arent you dev, selling 4 link sets that you are producing to pay your bills? you have come up with a simple idea with a 4 link, made it, market it, and we buy it. now your telling me that you wouldnt do that yourself? really? if people didnt do that would we have edelbrock today? would we have holley? would we have k&n? would we have your tbs 4 links or pan hard bars?

just dont get why you would shoot me down when you are already doing it yourself.

Me?!?
Na I don't make anything cool like that, you must have me mistaken for someone who's cool or something, I work in a factory programming CNC's and a robot to make parts for houses.
And like I said I wasn't being mean or nasty, it was just a suggestion.
I live in a fairly small country and as soon as you do something different to your truck, you can guarantee someone will be copying it in a few weeks.
The world needs leaders and pioneers, not yes man and sheep who follow the trends.

P.S. Sorry if I upset you, I was just voicing my opinion
