here's a pic of the notch which is also in my user gallery
cost $5 at the local steel yard then my friend that helped my lower the truck did all the cutting/welding

personally, I would plate the sides of the frame where its cut, some boxed tubing that fits over the top o the rail would be sweet.

it's not going anywhere. this is how they were done before people started using notches and body dropping them. it's a piece of 1/4" thick C shaped steel welded in there.

got rear ended recently so I have to replace the tailgate and try to find a chrome rear bumper or I'll be getting a rollpan and paint the front bumper dark blue to match the truck

ya, theres nothing wrong with your notch. sometimes its just the simplest things that work out for the best. a simple arch like that is sometimes the strongest way to build!

Your truck looks really good. I like the even stance. Too bad about getting rear ended. I hope you get it fixed soon. Keep it up.
