I'm going to talk to my dude that can get me body parts cheap about gettin me some 4x4 front fenders. OF course I also wanna get them on asap But to do so, I figure it would also be time to go ahead and primer the truck. Would you agree?
I can't afford to do a lot real fast but things I hope to do to the body are:
4x4 sheet metal
Cowl hood
smooth roll pan, maybe even integrate lighting into it
shave antenna
shave cowl
shave emblems
I don't like the idea of running around with "spots" of primer on a painted truck. lol and I do like primer Problem is, it is a "nice" looking truck atm. My wife would probably complain too, but she don't ride in it anyway, she just won't like it outside in the driveway I'll have lots of people say "why'd you do that?" Of course.
I like the look of the ppg primer, the yellowish stuff, but you can't buy that in a spray can, so everytime I "do" something I'll have to prime it in gray or black typically. So I guess I'd have to go with a full black primer, or gray. When finished and ready to paint the truck will be predominantly white again...I think...with some sort of red graffics. (anyone feel like photoshoppin me something? )
I want to show the truck while under construction, so would the primer be more beneficial there as well? Not that trophies matter, I'm more asking about it actually being accepted in that class.
I want to get the fenders on there so I can then keep these same wheels on it and don't have to worry about hitting the fenders, as I ocassionally do now. I do have 2 Pathfinder wheels if I don't go ahead and use the 4x4 metal.
I know I'll primer it as soon as I find a 4x4 bed for sure!
Or should I just keep all the parts, do all my mods to the parts I'm going to add, and then BAM!! One day just swap it all over to my current ride? Always fun to make a drastic change like that as well
