ahh ok, didnt know that about primer, I have to fix the roof and some other dents, might have to drop the headliner to pop the roof back out, I have to sell my conv. rabbit so I have room in our garage do some body work. I have some good size cans of bondo, but I want to try and get as much of the dents pushed out before i start using filler. I am going to use the torch and wet rag method of make the dented areas strong again, I believe it is called shrinking the metal. Not too worried about the roof cuase I plan on cutting it out for a ragtop anyway.

My 2wd is my daily right now, My 4x4 should be fixed soon so I can start driving it, then I can start doing the body work on my 2wd. I'll see ya this weekend.

man, that drawing is pretty cool. I def. like the flamed primer idea! I'd go for it.

I primered my truck over the summer. My paint wasn't bad,but the truck needed some bodywork, and I'm planning to respray it in the original charcoal grey.

I scuffed the entire body and degreased it and borrowed a paint gun and sprayed the truck with 1 coat of primer because my compressor was too small to power the paint gun and it took me like 2 hours to spray 1 coat,LOL. Because it took so long,I didn't bother spraying the sealer on it,and now after driving the truck in the snow for a month,it's turning into a rust bucket.

ok, well I have came up with a final paint job, this is the one I want to paint my truck. Blood red on bottom, Silver Stripe and Charcoal on top. Sorry about the quality, my scanner doesnt do well, and I could get my colored pencils to blend a nice charcoal color. I want the paint job to stripe over clear coners and candy the bottom red and smoke the top. I also want to use a phantom grill, powder coat the bottom dark red, powder coat the top dark grey and leave the center one chrome to match the stripe.
well here it is, what do you guys think.

as long as its paint I say go for it looks great but why put all that hard work into primer.

well, I am not sure how fast I could put it in paint, but I was thinking of putting it this way in primer while the body work is getting done, this way it looks cool while its underconstruction and then I can paint it after everything gets done. The suspension is my main concern right now, then body mods will follow that.

duuuuude....

whether you do that with primer or paint, that will look bloody sick!!!

I really like the way you split the colours.

Go for it man!! That makes me want to do something crazy with mine now, haha

I got inspired when I was reading through a classic truck magazine. This persons panel truck had a line that sloped back and then just waved up, so I decided to kind of put a tribal twist on it. I am thinking that where the stripe meets on the tailgate to do another tribal design, and I am still thinking of something to do on the bed cover.

classic trucks have some of the coolest but simplist designs, so look at them and something will blend between them and minitruckin style paintjobs.

thanks for the positive feedback, I am glad you like it.

that would be a nice paint job indead, for the primer make it a good epoxy primer and if you plan to have it outdoors for a long period of time make sure to sand it down and reprimer before paint, I have sanded down primer after 5+ years that was outdoors and there was no rust or problems, but they do break down and should come off after a long period of time

oh yeah, I would prolly take it down to metal so any dents that occured when it was in primer can then be fixed and I know that all my new paint is going on fresh metal and filler and new sealer/primer, that way I dont have to worry about what type of paint I am painting over and did I scuff the old paint up enough for the new paint to stick.

Hopefully, when I paint it like it for the final paint job, it will be like glass with no orangepeel or nothing, but that might be awhile before its ready for the final paintjob, I got a lot of stuff to shave and do to the body.

thanks,
Mike

After looking at your sig, I am wondering If I should save my corners lights aswell, do You get any problems with the cops around here without having corners, I am sure I will get pulled over a few times with a phantom grill and shaved tails, but I didnt know how much do the corner lights actually help?

I have never been pulled over for anything and the truck has been this way for 8 years, they definatly give me looks and follow me but everything works, I am more worried about my taillights then corners, but this is not my daily ride, but I have driven it to everett a few times and had no problems, now I am gonna get pulled in the next couple of days
