timing belt

how tight is the belt supposed to be? i took my cover off and i could pretty much pull the belt off by hand. and how do you tighten it? its a new belt and pulleys, which is what the guy said, im actually impressed he didnt bs me about that one...

its a chain.. and it dosen't have to be THAT TIGHT.. however there are guides that can get worn down.. and you have to replace those to tighten it up.

its the pulley on the left side, if your lookin in from the front of the truck, that seems that it is too far to the left, it needs to be moved to thr right more imo. but the bolt is tight as hell and i dont want to strip it out.

Sray some p.b blaster on it and wait a lil bit .. see what it does .

not sure about you but my 86 has a belt not a chain and as for your ???? there is a spring loaded pully on the water pump if that spring is worn out or not hooked up right it will be lose

i seen the spring, it seems to be good. just tthe bolt that holds the pulley is tight as hell. i tried to loosen it up and slide the pulley inward, which looks like it would solve the problem.. but i dont want to strip the damn bolt out.

when thay changed the belt thay may have forgot to losen the bolt and let it put the tension back on it i almost forgot to do that on mine just rember to retighten that bolt after the spring puts the tension back on

yea its makin a crappy noise. like some one is sticking there finger in the fan

the 92 im looking into buying has a belt as well and seeing that the 2.0 and 2.2 are pretty much the same motor it will probly be a belt but hell you never can tell with car companys these days
