I got a valve tick and poor idle. There is also another lower sounding flutter
noise coming from the valve train. Could this possibly be a bad rocker? Valves are a new thing for me, never had them befor lol

my 90 probe has the same engine and it was doing that... had to have all new lifters put in.... will have it back tomorrow, so i'll see how it does... might check into that... it might be possible that your valves just need tightening?? maybe someone else on here can help out more....

what year is your truck

mazdas have 2 types of lifters, manually adjusted lifters and hydraulic lifters

that's mostlikely where your ticking is coming from...depending on theyear of your truck, you'll have manual or hydraulic

since is name is 87mazdamini it will be a safe bet he has a 87 which i think had the manual lifters try ajusting them like the book says

Yes it is an 87 and yes I do have adjustable lifters but its not the "Mazda tick"
thats got me worried its the other low flutter noise.

you could have something in there. I would off the oil pan and check it out. Does it sound like its coming from the top or bottom?

pull the the valve cover and see if any of them are lose might still need to ajusted might be you may have a came lob going down or heck it could be coming from the fuel pump it runs off the cam to might have worn the pump arm down some

Could be your cam shaft. Mine wore out. Thats why I bought a new head.
