dude you guys keep saying a cracked head gasket and blah blah blah chances are if he was any kind of smart he checked his oil before he came on here. ill put 5 bucks and a sixpack says its not the head gasket you guys are forgetting that its fucking cold out here dont scare the young boy and dont forget that the best way to check for a blown head gasket is to get a pressure tester and check your coolant line. if the pressure drops after 15 mins youve got escaping coolant. almost all cars smoke white when starting up its like saying my windshields have ice on them when i go out to my car in the morning and some one comes out with well my windows were icey before my engine blew. i mean im not saying that its definatly not just that its not too likely

mine does the same thing except mine burns oil.... but after i run it for about 5 minutes it doesn't smoke anymore.. I don't worry too much about it I just check my oil every couple days

ya thanks guys ill look into the valve gaskets but ive already done a compression test and it shows not head issues... well i might as well replace the valve gaskets any how rule it out. the engine has about 65000 on it the truck has 300000 all together but it was totally restord in 1998
thnx all

white smoke = condensation or coolant
blue smoke = oil
black smoke = running rich

when you did the compression test, was it atleast 150psi?

my bet would be with pancaked, which is simply condensation...it's really cold out, and any car will smoke white at start up if it's been sitting outside

does the smoke smell funny? or just typical exhaust

these guys are correct about the symptoms of a blown headgasket/cracked head/ etc...check the oil and see if there is coolant in there, if there is, then it is one of those problems

if there isnt, it's just condensation.

if it was valve seals, it would be blue smoke, meaning it is burning oil

if you really do not think it is condensation do this...disconnect your exhaust at the collector before the catalytic converter and start the truck...if it is still smoking white, then you have a problem, but if it smokes for a second or so or not at all...its just condensation in the exhaust

This is normal eventually all mazda trucks begin smoking on cold starts ive owned two b2200's both did it. Its the fact that they have rubber valve guides that wear out really fast. on top of that if there really bad it begins to wear on the alluminum and if replaced doesn't do much cause of the worn aluminum still seaps by the seals.
