Ive just about got all the money I need saved for my next round of mods. I want to do a fuel cell and have found one from an old drag racer friend of mine. It does not have a place for a pump, so Im gonna have to run an inline pump. I was looking at the Jegs' catalog and noticed that there is a big price jump once you get over 7psi. I am curious what is the stock psi rating of our trucks? Also, I plan on getting a weber next winter...so what do they need? Also, what do I need in order to hook up a guage?

if you have a carb'ed motor then you have no need to get an inline pump.and if it comes with the sender then you just have to cut the plug off of the factory gauge wires.hope this helps

yea, my truck is throttle body, so does that mean that I dont need a fuel pump?

you should still need a fuel pump, i have a fuel cell with no inline pump, just my stock fuel float and a weber carb, i actually had to get a fuel pressure regulator to turn the stock fuel pressure down, i am runnig 1.5 psi to the weber, as that is what is recomended for them to not flood them out

I ASKED THE SAME QUESTIONS TO THE SALESREP WHERE I BOUGHT MY 38 WEBER. AS I UNDERSTAND A WEBER NEEDS BETWEEN 3-5 PSI NO MORE, AND FROM 70-100 GPH FLOW RATE, THIS WILL KEEP THE FUEL BOWLS FULL, AND NOT STARVE THE MOTOR DURING HARD ACCELERATION.
I AM GOING TO GET A JAZ PRO-STREET FUEL CELL W/ UNIVERSAL SENDING UNIT FROM FROM JEGS, ALONG WITH AN AEROMOTIVE SS FUEL PUMP, AN AEROMOTIVE UNIVERSAL BY-PASS REGULATOR, AN AEROMOTIVE INLINE FILTER BETWEEN THE CELL AND PUMP, AND A SCREW OFF TYPE AEROMOTIVE FILTER BETWEEN THE PUMP AND REGULATOR, AS THIS IS THE SETUP AEROMOTIVE RECOMENDED ON THEIR WEBSITE. THIS FUEL PUMP WILL FLOW 140 GPH AT PEAK, THE REASON I CHOSE THIS, IS THAT IT WILL LOOSE SOME FLOW THROUGH THE FITTINGS, FILTERS, AND REGULATOR, SO THIS OUGHT TO WORK FINE UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS. THE REGULATOR WILL GO AS LOW AS 3 PSI, AND IF YOU CHANGE THE PRESSURE NEEDLE YOU CAN USE IT ON A HIGH PSI FUEL INJECTIONS SETUP.

. AS I UNDERSTAND A WEBER NEEDS BETWEEN 3-5 PSI NO MORE, WILL .[/quote]

that was what i thought as well, but when i put 3 psi to mine it bogged down really bad, then i was told to put it at 1.5 and it has ran fine ever since

IT REALLY DEPENDS ON WHAT SIZE JETS YOU HAVE, BUT LIKE THE GUY TOLD ME TO MAKE SURE THE PRESSURE IS 3-5 PSI, THEN GET THE JETS SET IN THE CARB AND ADJUST IT UNTIL IT IS RIGHT.THIS WILL ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE AN AMPLE FUEL SUPPLY THROUGHOUT THE RPM BAND TO THE CARB. YOU MAY HAVE A SMALL SET OF JETS IN THE CARB, WHICH WOULD CAUSE IT TO FLOOD OR BOG DOWN WITH TOO MUCH PRESSURE. ALSO THIS COULD BE FOR JUST THE 38 WEBER, AND NOT THE 32/36, I WOULD ASSUME (WHICH ISN'T A GOOD THING...ASS.U.ME.) THAT WITH THE 32/36 AND IT BEING SMALLER IT MIGHT NOT TAKE AS MUCH PSI TO RUN CORRECTLY AS THE 38, BUT AS I SAY JUST AN ASS.U.M.PTION....

THIS IS JUST SOME OF THE STUFF I'VE BEEN TOLD, AND HAVE FOUND OUT THROUGH RESEARCH, NOT TRYING TO SAY YOUR WRONG BY NO MEANS..

yeah thats cool, very true that it may be different between the two carbs, i do have the 32/36 so it may take less fuel, it still doesnt seem to run just right no matter how i adjust it so i may try running new jets, but yeah wasnt taking your post that you were saying i was wrong, its cool

a 302 ford v8 will only use around a 7psi, so should be covered with that fuel pressure.

drpdmazda, IF YOU DO GO TO PUT SOME OTHER JETS IN THE CARB, YOU CAN GET A KIT WITH SEVERAL DIFFERENT SIZES SPECIFICALLY FOR THE 32/36 FOR @$80 SHIPPED FROM SEVERAL DIFFERENT PLACES THAT SELL THE WEBERS.

vidraggin, WHAT EVER SETUP YOU DECIDE TO RUN KEEP THIS IN MIND, NOT ONLY SHOULD YOU BE CONCERNED WITH THE PSI, BUT TAKE INTO ACCOUNT HOW MUCH GHP THE PUMP WILL FLOW, YOU HAVE TO HAVE BOTH RIGHT BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT TO ADJUST YOUR CARB.
