MazdawgyDawg,

yeah, there is a guy in my neighbor hood with a regal with the grand national 3.8 turbo motor in it, i think he said he was getting @ 450 hp to the rear wheels. he has the boost turned up, and a cam n stuff, with the skinny tires in front an wide ones in the rear. it would be a bad a** setup for a mazda if you could get it to hook you would be a rollin nightmare for a mustang or camaro, maybe even some vettes.

i wouldn't want to try running a vette on the highway.......stoplight-stoplight and 1/4 mile is one thing, but when you have a mazda thats WELL capable of running 150+ mph, with the aerodynamics of a brick and handleing thats not exactly u to par with the speed, it would be scary to say the least.

TRU TRU!!
LIGHT TO LIGHT OR 1/8 OR 1/4 YOU MIGHT HAVE A CHANCE WITH ANY OF THEM, BUT AS FAR AS TOP END THE "BRICK EFFECT" AND OUR TRUCKS REAR ENDS SORTA GOT US IN A BIND.

if the buick 3.8 is the same as a gm 3.8 & 4.3 then ultimate customs in Ajax On. has an engine swap kit. I have looked into it for my 4.3 I'm gonna put in - BUT I have heard tha they may be out of or going out of business. cannot confirm this tho.

2fine89,

if you could find a 4.3 out of a gmc typhoon or syclone that would be a sweet swap. although those were awd trucks they posted 0-60 mph times in the 4-5 second range!

285hp, 305 ft/lbs of torque......imagine with a little tweaking and a few more pounds of boost

yep, yep! i had thought about doing that swap, but decided to keep the factory motor, shucks these trucks are almost antiques, and i didn't want
to cut up my first vehicle, now if i find another once i'm done with this one yea i'd do it in a heartbeat!!

OH YA I remember the syclone / typhoons when they were new. What I want / might have lined up is a 97 4.3 - 5spd with wiring harness and computer - complete. 200 rwhp 250 tq. add an intake and an exhaust and I might hit 230 with it. That is more than these little trucks need for power. One of my X-wifes trucks was a fullsize GM with a 4.3 auto and it really moved for a big heavy truck.

I have always wanted to do a swap in this truck since it was new in '89. I was gonna do the SBC and 4spd auto - even bought a swap kit, BUT changed my mind to want to do a 4.3. Always wanted to make it a Mustang Killer. there was way too many of those 5.0's on our streets in the 90's LOL .
