yes the 84 is slightly different, but i think its the same idea.

I'm still a little confused because I'm working in reverse. My buddy tried to hook everything back up after rebuilding the head for me about a year ago. So... I have a bunch of open holes on my manifold with no vac lines and tubes from the air pump going nowhere.

If someone could tell me, like I was five, what exactly i need to hook where as if nothing is hooked up now I would be in your debt.

Again - '84 b2000 with a Weber

Unless you live somewhere where there is smog regulations like CA or whatever, or it's just important to YOU that your vacuum lines are hooked up, it would be easier and not harmful to your engine at all to just plug the vacuum holes on your carburetor and intake manifold, and remove those lines.

lol the old mazdas run a little rougher without the vacs on bro, believe me i had three of them off and it sounded like a tank and ran like shit untill i found the problem,

shawn if you would like me to take pics i can just say the word and i will just ask me what u need pics of and were and ill take them, i no its alot easier see'ing pics than someone telling you.

I recently re-did my head gasket so i know exactly were your coming from.

of course it runs like crap with the vacuum lines off... with the lines off it's pulling WAY too much air in to the engine and causing a really lean condition. you have to cap the holes coming off the intake manifold and carburetor

ya exactly thats why i asked if he wanted pics

Thanks for the help everyone. Its started snowing again here in Idaho so it'll be awhile before I get to try out all the suggestions. I'll keep you posted when it warms up a little. Thanks Again!!!

Ok, its all hooked up now but I have a new problem. Now the engine surges up to crazy RPM's when you give it a little gas and dies, or just plain dies. I think I have all the vac ports capped. What is causing this?
