mine were gone on my motor when they tore it down at the machine
shop, there was one broke on the # 2 & 4 cyls. but on the up side it
didn't score my cyl walls so i really didn't need to have it bored out,
but am doing so to have a little more displacement.

good luck!

i'm gonna shop around. i have a guy offering me a complete motor, but I want to see what it'll cost just to do the motor I have now.

I'll go the cheaper route. Might be easier just to pull the motor and put a complete one in.

YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIND A REBUILD KIT FOR THE BOTTOM END FOR LESS THAN $400, AND A COUPLE HUNDRED TO HAVE THE CYL WALLS HONED, AND THE KIT PUT IN, THEN PUT YOUR HEAD BACK IN (WITH THE LIFTER PROB FIXED) & YOU 'LL BE GOOD TO GO....

GOOD LUCK1

Don't tear it down yet.
The rings on these trucks don't wear out even at 200k miles.
They just get stuck in the piston grooves because of carbon build up and sludge.
Try first the GM Top Engine Cleaner to free up the piston rings.
Remove the spark plugs and pour it inside all four combustion chambers and let it sit and soak for one or two days.
Then crank the engine with no spark plugs until the cleaner is gone.
Put the spark plugs back in and test if it still smokes.
Good luck.

hmmmm, that sounds like a very likely cause. My mechanic is suggesting that the rings are possibly lapping.

the truck runs just fine, but I don't want to be driving it around smoking, that's just waiting to have my plates taken off by the police. If running both Lucas oil treatment and engine honey in it right now isn't working,I don't think adding another cleaner or additive will do anything. I need it fixed ASAP,and I'm driving my mom's car to work because I can't drive the truck smoking how it is. I'm taking it in tomorrow after work to see what my mechanic says we should do,but I don't have time to waste playing waiting games to see if it clears up.

i would go grab a can of seafoam and do what 89B2200 said heck its 8 bucks and it might work (might need to change the oil after words) but hay 8 bucks a few hours sure beats a few 100 even more if it works

yeah,i'm going to try that stuff first. That would definetly be sweet if that works.

Anyways guys,I really appreciate all the help! I dunno what I'd do without it!
