reed valve?

Few questions:
What the hell does it do?
Can it be plugged
does it boost performance plugged


I lookes like its totally useless to me just bulk on the front of the intake

YOU TALKING ABOUT THE EGR LINES THAT RUN OFF OF THE EXHAUST MANI TO THE HOUSING W/ THE REEDS HOOKED TO THE AIRCLEANER.....? SUPPOSEDLY YOU CAN REMOVE THOSE PIPES & PLUG THE HOLES ON THE EXHAUST MANI.

Those reed valves introduce 02 into your exhaust so u wont be emitting too much co2 into the atmosphere.If u live in a state with exhaust inspections like Tennessee, best check ur truck will pass emissions testing before u plug the holes and throw ur pollution stuff away. Lol. BJ

since when does Tenn check emmsions i have lived here my hole life and had never had it checked. heck how eles would you be able to drop a V8 in a small truck with not problems <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

Since the EPA came down on certain counties (like Hamilton) and said either clean up the air or lose mucho Federales bucks.Presto-inspection annually,at tag renewal time, when u buy a new car or when u sell one. Since about a year ago. U may be exempt where u live. BJ

Counties that are considered non-attainment areas with respect to air quality standards are subject to emissions testing.
Like in Georgia, some counties are exempt and some have emissions testing like in the Atlanta area.
Down where I live, there is no emissions testing.

THEY WERE TESTING FOR EMISSIONS WAY BACK IN 86-89 WHEN I LIVED IN GOODLETTSVILLE TN. JUST NORTH OF NASHVILLE. I KNOW THEY CHECK IN MEMPHIS, NASHVILLE, CHATTANOOGA, &amp; KNOXVILLE. I JUST HOPE I GET MY DAWG GOING BEFORE THEY START TESTING IN HUNTSVILLE....

There are exemptions.Collector and classic cars being one of them. I am going to try to convince them that my truck is a "classic". One look might do that idea in however. Lol. BJ

in bama anything older than 20 years is considered a classic.
