WELL! Hey guys, I just found out something detrimental today. I've always wondered why the truck acted the way it did... and to know now, only makes me tell myself, "i told you so."

After giving the truck a little maintenance, I got curious as to why this thing doeas'nt start right! I checked the ignition, and it was fine. But when I got it cranked again after the 3rd time, I was soon re-iterated the answer. Cranks over, and I put on a little throttle and let off. Once it got down to its idle, stutter...

OH REALLY! A stutter or sputter you say? Yes, I do... So I began to think.. The EXHAUST? Got down on my knees and looked, right before the muffle, A HUGE 4 inch gash down the exhaust! It looks like an open wound that never healed!

I must have caused this the day I hit that huge pot hole or something. Because I don't remember seeing that before... So tell me, 'am I right, or 'am I wrong?

EDIT: Here is a picture! The tape around the exhaust was macgeyvered by the last owner. He teld me about that before I bought the truck.

So what do you think now?!

mine is like that and it runs fine so i dont think your exhausts as for the smoke you said you just rebuilt it then the smoke could be from the rings not having time to seat yet if you ever watch Overhualing there brand new motors smoke at start up for a bit

A buddy's uncle I know, looked at my truck and gave it a try; Hes a mechanic... He pointed to out that it was the ignition switch. So, therefore, I called Schucks, and Autozone. AZ was the cheapest at $122! For A damn chip! And its a 4 day shipping delay...

Aye...

But when I get in and just turn it from the off all the way to start in one motion, it will crank the first time? So I will use that method from now on. dunno how long it'll last me!

So, anyone have a parts truck that I can get an ignition switch off of? PM ME!

the hole in the exhaust would give you a loss in backpressure resulting in power loss, but wouldnt really effect the way your truck starts. it definately sounds like something else.
u can post up in the wanted sectionf or the ignition switch, im sure someone could get one for you.

Are you talking about the ignition cylinder?

I need the ignition switch. A little computer sensor, chip, thingy... Haha.

While I'm at it, the key cylinder I have, has some play in it, around the ON position. You have to turn it lightly until it comes on. I dunno if that makes a difference about it, but just wonderin' if this is a problem?

Its an elctrical component, for the ECU, and its connected to a harness behind the steering coulmn covers.
