As an old vW fan, trust me I know what can be done to them. But finding one that cheap around here I don't know about

plus finding one without rusted floors too, I just noticed your in NC. I just took my flowmaster muffler off my rabbit and threw on a cherry bomb. I have to make the rabbit nice now that the truck isnt driveable.
good luck finding a cheap car.

I still have the Ultimate Customs V8 mazda kit for sale. I ran a 302 auto with a slap shift.

ok, my new truck is starting to smoke a little when I start it, no problem, I know it has 210k miles on it. I am not going to beef up the 302, but leave it stock with the stock injection on it. There is a company by me called Northwest Toyota. They sell a bellhousing that bolts a 302 to a toyota (v6) 5speed tranny. I am not going to get on the truck hard at all, so I think it would hold up.

If I use the toyo tranny, I wouldnt have to beat the firewall in, would I?
The toyo 5speed and the stock rearend would be ok with a stock 302, right?
The company that sells the bellhousing also sells a wiring harness for a stock fuel injected 302, I shouldnt need anymore wiring other than that, should I?

thanks,
Mike

Depends on what the harness includes. If its just a bare harness then you will have to get a computer, and possibly more (can't rember off the top of my head, mine was half mazda, half ford).

I am not going to lower the truck as of right now. I am going to put a helper leaf on it and a air bag towing system. I can install traction bars.

I dont mind getting a new driveline. and I should be getting the computer from the car I take the engine from.

thanks, that was just what I wanted to hear.
thanks again,

But you will need motor mounts. Like I said I still have the Ultimate Customs 5.0L swap kit.

I need to gather the parts and see ohw the toyo tranny sits bolted to the motor before I decide on motor mounts. it might be easier for me to make my own mounts. I have to move first then start gathering parts. we are moving into a bigger garage, so my toys( soon to be welder and sandblaster) will now have a place in my garage. The company that sells the bellhousing also sells a dual sum oil pan that might fit better around the crossmember, I need to talk to them first, this might help it fit better so I dont have to cut the hood for anything.

thanks, i'll keep the kit in mind,
Mike
