I haven't gotten a dwell meter yet but I had the truck in the shop at work and the coolant looks like liquid rust, hopefully it reaches 10C next weekend like I've been hearing and I'll have a chance to flush it. Hopefully that helps with somthing.

That radiator temp switch contacts close at 50-60F to activate the PTC heater in the carb to keep it from icing up.
The switch contacts open above that temperature because the carb does not need the PTC heater at that outside temp.

Yep, it's the heater plate that sits under the carb.
When the swtich closes at 50-60F, it pulls in the PTC relay coil and passes 12V to the PTC heater plate under the carb.
When the coolant starts heating up, the switch opens and turns off the PTC heater.
When starting the truck in cold weather, it's better to turn the ignition to ON for a short while to pre-heat the carb, before starting the engine.
Where is Austell? I am in Leesburg, 3 hours southwest from Atlanta.

Additional tech info on how to hook up the dwell meter.
Adjust the idle mixture screw until the air/fuel solenoid duty cycle (dwell) is varying in the preferred range, between 27° to 45°.

So the idle screw dies both idle and mixture? I know where the idle screw is but i thought there was another for mixture that I couldn't find in manuals.
Thanks
