so today i took a "sick day" and got a few things accomplished. for shits and giggles i decide to pull the codes from the ECU, since i have a idle problem on hot starts. so i ground the test terminal, and NOTHING, CEL doesnt flash or anything, truck cranks and runs fine. only problem running wise is on hot restarts it acts like its flooded out, cranks and barely idles, have to keep the throttle open a little. does this sound like the ECU is going bad, both problems???

anybody know, or have any clue

Not sure if your B2600 is FI or Carbed.

pm replied to, it is fuel injected. its a 2600i.

Not familiar with B2600i engine management.
Get a manual and schematic showing ECU, engine sensors, air flow measurement system and ECU pin configuration.
Then check engine temp sensor resistance values at different temps at ECU plug and compare to specs since you have a hot start issue.
Then check the idle air control valve or whatever controls idle air by-pass.

It takes a while to learn the system and I don't have a lot of time to do that. You have to learn your truck's ignition and fuel management system if you want to diy the repairs.
Just hope that someone with the same truck will help you out.
Good luck.

find someone with the right truck and borrow their computer....first thing i would check is the voltage comin outa the temp sensor for the computer(not the same as the guage sensor)..it will give a value to refrence it against in the haynes manual(must have for this efi vechs.)
good lucks..*i miss carberators*

southernrazed, i am with you on the coolant temp sensor as well on the hot start issue, as its the only input sensor that affects hot/cold starts.

i was only thinking ecu because when grounding the check connector my check engine light wouldnt do anything.

i do know fuel injection, i was a diagnostician for a few years, and the mazda setup isnt much differant than any other maf setup. matter of fact i think the only differance is in the iac/bac, its a unique design as far as i know.

well, chances are i will figure it out soon, just basically trying to get some others input.

i will try to check the CTS tomorrow if i am feeling better, and can find my multimeter.

thanks for all the help.

Rarely do you see a computer go bad, or malfunction!

But, who knows!

Thats just my 2 pennies!

Dev

Good luck getting it running, I hope it works out!

Regards!

2600i computers are notorious for going bad at about 100k miles. However their syptoms are ususally complete loss of power when running at operating temp, followed by driveability when they cool off.If u pull the computer,if they are going bad u can see a small "burned spot:" on the mother board. There is a guy on ebAY THAT FIXES THEM ALSO a company called Adco I belive.Have u pulled you Maf and cleaned it latellyThat might help.BJ

Try AVPRO ECM at;

Look at this component failure due to a leaky capacitor.
