here are a couple pics of the axle, larger ones in my garage.

pic of the chunk & axle tubes

the chunk is the same externally less the abs sensor, but the axle tubes are thicker the closer to the chunk you get, where as the b2200 are the same from the flange to the chunk. so if you just wanted lsd, then you should be able to swap the chunk from either a 84-85 rx-7 gsl, or gsl-se w/o any problems, direct bolt to the axle, and to the driveshaft, i still need to verify the spline pattern on the axle shafts from the rx's rear and the trucks. the gear ratio on the gsl-se rear is slightly different than the trucks @ 4.076:1, and the trucks is 3.909:1

pics of the 3-bolt flange & caliper mounting bracket

now if your like me & want disc in the rear, you could just swap the whole axle, the 84-85 gsl-se's are the exact same width as the trucks from wms to wms, only thing is you can't run the 6-lug pattern, it comes in a 4 x 4.5 lug pattern, and the rotor isn't big enough to allow you to swap axle shafts, so you will have to have the rx's shafts lug pattern drilled to a 5 lug pattern or left as the 4x 4.5, in which case the front hubs will need to be done as well. i wouldn't use the rear out of the 84-85 gsl as the rotors are a solid 9.5" variety, and probably would be too small to run a 5 lug pattern

sweet this should be a tech article

don't know about a tech article, as there isn't any actual install info, but a sticky maybe
once i get to putting it in, i'll do a write up on it & post it in the tech sect.

hey bro, this may be a stupid question but what is so good about this rear? what does lsd stand for? i am just curious, cause it sounds badass but i don't know what you are talking about. haha.

well with this rear, it is almost a direct swap for the 86-93 rears, less having to change the lug pattern, and change the mounts. & it has two real nice things that our truck rears didn't come with, lsd=limited slip differential, and rear disc brakes!

ever noticed when you jack up your truck in the rear & spin the tire, one goes one direction, one the other, this is because it is an open differential, where only one wheel actually pulls.....with an lsd, locker, posi track, both wheels pull. so instead of doing a "one wheel wonder burnout" you can leave two black marks down the road they are nice when trying to pull a boat up a wet boat ramp too!

ok, nice! i didn't think about lsd meaning limited slip differential. i was thinking that it was some kind of irs rearend or something. when i drop the v8 in my 83 i am putting a limited slip 9" rear behind it. it is funny cause i can't wait until you get your truck on the road. i want to know how it performs after everything you have done to it. thanks for the knowledge bro. later.

no prob boss! always glad to pass along this kinda stuff...wish i had more time to spend on the truck & doing some tech articles for here, but that will come soon enough! i have seen on a couple sites where some of these rears were getting 300 hp or better put to them!

which sway bar did you use the one from the rx-7 or the kit that you got, i forget who makes it
