Alright, so I've been having some problems with my weber. I'll open the throttle all the way, when it is semi-warm, and it will take a couple seconds to accel. It boggs down... Sometimes I'll do it, and it will pop-back through the carb. Then, sometimes it will still try to run after I shut the engine off.

I was told it was my timing. So I got my timing set at 0 BTDC without the vacuum advance on. Then with it on, its at -2 BTDC. I'm wondering, should the timing be set at factory 6 BTDC or is there another timing it should be set at for the Weber? Right now, the only problem I'm still facing is the flat spot on initial acceleration, but no backfire thankfully.

Now, is this not preventable or what? I don't get why it flat-spots. When its warmed up though, it does'nt do it as badly.

Is there any problems I may face with the timing I'm at right now?

Man. Im having the EXACT same issue as you. Im going to try to tinker with mine tommorow and see whats up. I adjusted my timing tonight, and so far thats fixed the dieseling, but i still get a flat spot. What im going to try and do is run it a little richer, and make the idle speed a biiiiiit higher. im also putting the gm lugnuts over my EGR ports soo maybe thatll make a difference too. we'll see.

ok i have become very good with tuning the webers i have a 38 outlaw on mine but i used to get a flat spot with my truck and i found out it was a few things
fuel pump
but mostly make shore your choke is fully open when its it warm and idoling and make sure that both idle air selanoids are hooked up to the coil and then make sure the vacum advance is hooked to the carb not the intake other wise it over advances
this should help if not keep posting nd ill go into more detail

Yea, the only things I can think of as to why it is causing this is:

1. When opening the throttle all the way it might be because of waaay too much fuel is going into the intake.

2. The air mixture is'nt hot enough because the intake manifold is'nt hot enough?

3. Carb does'nt suck in enough CFM's?

4. Our engines just suck! Lol.

I primarily encounter this flat spot problem when I push the throttle as far down as I can. Like I'am racing. It happens mostly when I'm accelerating from a stopped position. Primary and 2ndary throttle plates fully open. It will decrease in rpm a bit and then it will accel. gradually and then kick in good.

EDIT: I myself have a new OEM fuel pump. I actually got it a little after my carb. So I know its good! I will adjust my choke to be fully open next time on startup when its semi-warm and see if makes a difference... My vacuum advance is hooked up to the carb. not the intake!

The only thing I dunno what your talking about is the solenoids to the coil?

Im having the same gay issue...but i dont care to bust my ass to do something about it...Im gunna blow the motor, and get ready to put in the new motor

i have no flat spot on my truck but i have portnpolished heads nd rebuilt motor with header nd all that b.s but it was fine b4 did that ne ways the coil thing you kno the idol cut off on the side of the carb nd then there is a nother one on the other side of the carb there soposed to b hooked up to the positive on the coil

and with your weber advance it a few degres best way is by ear hold it at like 1500 rpms nd move ur dist till it is butter smooth

I think you need to show me a pic of these idle solenoids! I have a 32/36 DGEV. I did'nt even see the manual say anything about it... Looks like I'm going to need to stop by my weber elite guys' place.

I'm going to be getting my header and exhaust soon, so I'll see if that helps as well...

never heard of idle solenoids either. well. i got 3 fix it tickets today for the mazda from the cops lmao. worst was for exhaust since that carb just makes it backfire like crazy since i have just to the cat exhaust lol. everything in question was just fixed lol...soo.. now its midnight, and im gonna go see if i can tune the mazdahhhfuckahh a bit lol.

Ok, soo i tuned my truck tonight, and it seems like im getting alot more power than i used to.. which is a good thing. and ive also seemed to stop my dieseling (it was acting up again), but i still get the flat spots too.

I put 2 and 2 together today. My Nikki did the same thing, but it bucked and sputtered...all my Weber makes my truck do is surge for a second, then it hits the powerband again. This musn't be a carb problem.

Im broke right now, gotta go to Sudbury for my school tour this weekend, so im gonna dink around with it when i get back.

Im checking/replacing the following when i get back..or not long after:
-Cap & Rotor
-Fuel Filter
-Fuel Pump
-Primary Cat [Exhaust is new other than manifold]

I mean..I have no computer anymore, or any emissions controls, so theres REALLY not a whole lot it could be.

On another note, For exhaust im now running a sealed factory header, to a magnaflow cat, too a cherry bomb...and my intake is a weber, nothing else...and it sounds fuckin tits. sounds kind of like my buddys 13b rx7 lol. just thought i would share.
