my motor only has 30 000km on it and it ticks. Just turn the radio up.

Apparently the dude has a real ticking problem, there's a difference from the regular tick vs. bad tick lol. I'm in the same boat right now. My truck has just started a pretty good lil ticking when over about 2200 rpm only though. I've heard it said to be the lifters possibly. I thought at first maybe a rocker has come loose or worn, Idk.

Even the low oil tick is different, because this is louder, but about the same speed I suppose.

If the lifters are badly worn or are collapsed and not pumping up when the oil pressure rises, the engine will tick all the time, hot or cold.U should also notice a slight "whuffing" sound in the exhaust note at idle cause when the lifter sticks the valve it is supposed to actuate will either not close all the way or not open all the way-thus the funny exhaust sound.U may also get oil consumption issues and/or even poorer gas mileage.U may also get "blow-by" and see a lot more oily dirt in ur air filter element.BJ

lol she's been burning oil since I got her but just started smoking last summer. She also used to tick if I ran her on the hwy for a while, when I came off and back down to slower speeds I'd hear it tick...but it just sounded like a loose rocker at that time. Now it's louder....and much more frequent...like all the time cept when she's cold. I'm running SAE 30 oil as well in an effort to keep the oil consumption down.

I do at times think the exhaust sounds a lil different, but normally that's at around 45mph, not really at idle.

One suggestion for a cheap fix and then Im done.Change the oil to a 5W-30 and use a Mazda or Wix filter.Add 1/2 can of SeaFoam to the oil and put 1/4 can in the gas tank.Drive the truck about 500 miles and change the oil back to whatever u plan to use permanently. This may clean the sludge off ur lifters so that theu will pump up.BJ
