alright, I am looking into getting another mazda, and I am wanting something with bit more punch, but nothing over bearing. 302 seems just about right. Is the stock oil pan correct for the stock front end?

In general what needs to be done? Is wiring a pain? I really don't want much past turn signals, ignition, horn and all the lights. Dash would more or less be gone for something with a few gauges and cd player. SO whats the deal, what all is needed to be done for the swap?

I emailed the guy that everyone said to talk to, on the older threads. No response yet. Maybe he's just a busy guy.

If your doing a FI 302 I would buy a complete written off mustang (cheaper in the long run). You can run a double harness whitch is a pain in the nuts. If you do just make sure that you make a complete wiring diagram for later if you have to fix something. Or the best way to go is with a Painless 302 harness. It might be a little pricy but its more than worth it. I used an Ultimate Customs 5.0 kit. I think that V8mazdaforever might make a copy of them. There is no major mods to get it to fit. You can use the stock rad with 2 electric fans but if you live in a warmer climate or don't like your shoes to melt on a drive longer than 30 minutes then get one made. The driveshaft take to a driveline shop and they will make you a Ford/Mazda driveshaft. It just uses the mustang tranny yoke and the mazda shaft shortened and balanced. Your stock rear end is fine just don't run lowering blocks. Your best setup is a 4 link with coilovers if you want to get it to stick. If you run the stock leafs you won't go anywhere but you can put it sideways at 100. The stock mustang shorty headers work fine and any exhaust shop will be able to hook you up.

Other than that theres really not much more. You'll still find that theres alot of extrras like gauges, shifter, wires, air filter etc. Get the motor rebuilt before you put it in. Theres nothing worse than doing all that work and then having to pull it. I did a rebuild with slight performance mods that probably put it at 260-280 HP and the truck was crazy. Definatly money well spent.

what does he go about doing about motor mounts?

Ultimate Customs kit. Includes the motor mounts, and crossmember. Everything that you need. Talk to V8mazda about them.

so I like how it sounds. I just need to get my truck sold, find a mazda and do it up I really don't know if it will happen, but sooner or later I would like another mazda. I have a 72 f100 right now that is giving me hell, but I love the body style.

Either way guys, thanks a ton for the help, gives me something to think about.

oh and, its not FI. its carbed.

The motor was done when I was 17 so I was only in the scene for a couple of years so the motor was done by Ultimate. With a complete 93 Mustang, machine shop, powdercoating, ignition, shifter, etc, the swap probably cost between $4500-6000. It was over 10 years ago that it was done so I can't remember exactly.
