Hey, so i got these 2 pieces installed today in the Mazda.

So now, I've got:

Weber 32/36
Emissions Delete
Computer Delete
Full MSD Wire Set
MSD SS Blaster
Stock Spec Gapped Plugs
Slightly advanced timing w/ 87 Octane (Runs good)
MSD 6AL Ignition System w/ 7000rpm pill (Bring it to 6200 rpm max)
Stock header, Magnaflow Cat, Cherrybomb (Header-back 2.5" pipe)

Now, my thing is...It was running good, but i took all the wires off to put Die-electric grease on everything because some of the wires seemed loose. Doing this, i sheared the top of my coil. I then decided to go full MSD. (I can always put it in my integra afterwards anyway)

I kept the idle and timing, mixture..everything i had the same as before with just the carb and other things. Now, I went to stop, and you would wait a few seconds, and the truck would die. It did that repetitively until i decided to bump up the idle, and mixture..FOR NOW. I say for now because it diesels everytime i shut it off (1400rpm idle now, and it was 1000rpm or so before.)

Now, i know our trucks have the points ignition system, which is very OK to run with this kit. But i was reading i may have to take off some kind of secondary something rather weights...or something off?

Anyway, What.Would.theBScener's.Do? (WWBD!)

lol. any help would be awesome. Thanks guys. In case anyone's wondering, Yes there is quite a difference with this kit. Seems to run alot more smooth and pull quite a bit harder (as hard as 80hp can..lol.) .. and its pretty funny to install the 3,000rpm rev limiter pill into the box, watching your buddy drive and see the look on his face as he wonders why the fukk he can't rev past 3,000 rpm haha.

Its dieseling because your timing is off ,your idle is too high and your plug gap is off.If ur going to run 87 octane,go back to 6 degrees BTDC on timing, .032 gap on plugs and and set ur idle at 750-800 rpm.if u have fattened up ur mixture, turn it lean by about a 1/4 turn .See if that doesnt help.BJ

OK thanks, im gonna give that a try. Any idea why it would just shutoff after the msd was in, after it was running good?

No,man,I really dont.I am running a 40KAccel coil in mine with a cam ,Weber, and a bunch of other goodies. My timing is at 5% BTDC,.035 on the plug gap and a tad lean on the carb ,running 91 octane and it does fine except for the lope at idle because of the cam. These old trucks are beautches to keep running right after u screw around with them.It took me 2 weeks of playing with mine before I got it right.Lol.BJ

Bump. I guess one thing we all forget and need to be reminded of-these trucks were never designed to be performance trucks-just good old reliable work trucks and they do that real well. When u dink with one and try to get it to perform, its like trying to make a Kentucky Derby winner out of a mule.Aint gonna happen, frustrating to try ,but fun nevertheless.Lol.Hee-haw.BJ

What kind of weber do you have? Im interested in doing a rebuild, p&p, header and cam..and was wondering if a 32/36 would be enough to get the job done?

Yah im gonna see if i can mess around with this thing later on tonight if the weather clears up..supposed to drive 500km to camp tommorow, soo.. we'll see haha.

I got the newer 34 DGEV.I probably should have gone to the outlaw 38,but since I drive the truck around town a lot, felt the 34 would do,and so far it has done well, especially mileage wise.BJ

ok its finally running alright now.

i was looking into it a bit more, i realized the rev limiter cuts spark only...so i saw a company "Bee*R" racing, seen some videos of it installed on cars, shooting flames..

So, i put my 3000rpm pill in..parked my truck under a bridge, and held it at 3,000 for a while lmfao. i have 2 cats and a muffler, and theres still just flames everywhere. its fukkin mint. im gonna have to lay off for a bit though, at least until my exhaust is directed AWAY from the underside of my truck hahaha

if you driving it daily i would go with the 34 and if you need more you can always re jet later
