There is a return spring on both the carbed and FI engine that is supposed to return the throttle to idle when u take foot off gas.On the carbed motor and FI engine, the springs are wrapped around the shaft that the butterfly valve is mounted on.Check and be sure the spring isnt broken or otherwise non functional. Also,u might want to disconnect the throttle cable at the carb or intake plenum on the FI truck, hold the cable up in the air and run some LIGHT macHine oil down the cable. It may be binding inside the cover. Also oil the return spring with some light oil.If that doesnt work I am out of helpful(?) hints.BJ

just a thought, you could be pulling to much vaccum @ the distributor, either the spring on the vaccum advance canister could be bad, or somehow the vaccum line is pulling more than it should, causing you to have too much advance even @ idle.....not sure right off the top of my head how to check other than pulling the vaccum advance line off the distributor, & the rpms should drop back to normal, if not then you know you have a problem else where....
